You never heard of smelling salts ? Pro and college Athletes from all walks of life use it - from boxers to hockey players to football players, etc.

Smelling salts, also known as spirit of hartshorn or sal volatile, are chemical compounds used for arousing consciousness.

They are also used in competitions (such as strong man and Ice hockey) to "wake up" competitors to perform better.

They are also still used for people feeling faint, or who have fainted, either administered by others, or self administered, with some at risk groups, such as pregnant women, sometimes advised to keep them close to hand.

Basically it wakes your a$$ up real good. That's why Brady and his teammate used it right before the game in your video.

I've seen a college lineman from WVU use it right before the game. It was pretty crazy looking.

i dont see why everyone is making such a big deal of this, i saw him do it and assumed right away it was smelling salts. they use them all the time to get players to "snap back to it" after a big hit or something where they are disoriented and it allows them to re focus. brady probably just used it to hone is focus for the start of the game.
