8. The Dolphins were never going to the playoffs in 2017, no matter the QB
The Miami Dolphins were profoundly lucky last season.
They finished the year ranked 25th in FPI and 16th in overall efficiency. And they had a negative point differential. Yet somehow, they squeaked into the postseason.
So no, FPI wasn't going to pick them to make the playoffs again with Ryan Tannehill as quarterback. And FPI won't pick them to make the playoffs with Jay Cutler either. It's not that the model thinks Cutler will be awful, it's just that he'll be at about the same level as Tannehill, maybe a tad worse -- and that, frankly, is not good enough to get this team to January.
Miami won 10 games last year. Expect just seven wins in 2017.

It's a network of sexual predators, perverts, workplace predators, racists, serial adulterers, plea-bargaining murder suspects, wife batterers, self-aggrandizing liars and trolls - some like Berman and Brainless they look the other way when caught, others they fire only after their shenanigans have been revealed to the public although they've looked the other way for years *wink* *wink*. It's also the place where fired FO personnel like Riddick and Dominick, failed coaches like Rex, and lived-beyond-their-usefulness GMs like Polian come to critically opine on the decisions and performances of those who are still gainfully employed.

.... so in summation regarding their often biased "takes" : WGAS WGAF!!!

We weren't going to the playoffs last year with the hard as **** schedule they said we had going into 2016.....

Agreed!

And they seem to forget we made the playoffs with Matt Moore during the most critical part of the season (December), and for that matter alone, having Tannehill or Cutler for a full season is an upgrade. But I'm realistic, the Fins do have an uphill climb to make the playoffs this year, but I trust Gase, he's the factor none of those idiots talk about. This team is hungry and they believe in themselves. They are competitive, and they'll find ways to win. F the outsiders. Fin em all!

Yeah I remember seeing going into 2016, Miami's strength of schedule was pretty damn tough. But after the season it wasn't so tough. Yet going into this year Miami supposedly stands no chance at the playoffs because the strength of schedule is too difficult.

Basically, nobody knows what's going to happen around the league so predicting this year's results based on last year's storylines seems a bit counter productive.

You go far into the playoffs by playing a tough regular season schedule. Playing a cupcake schedule may get you into the playoffs and right out.

"us against everyone else" attitude works for the Patriots. We need growth in some key places and we can be relevant in December.
