Woow Florida is on a sick tear!!! The rangers have reported that Jaromir Jagr will play out his 2 years and he is done

Yeah Florida set a franchise record for most wins in a row. Jagr won't be done, he said after his contract is up (2 years) he will go to play in the european league.

5 min left and Florida is up by 2, I'm gonna go watch the rest of the game, I think they can pull through! Last time I checked everybody Florida needed to lose was winning, the playoffs don't look too good right now.

The good news for the Panthers is that with tonight's win, they are 6 points out of the 8th spot. That 8th spot is currently held by Tampa Bay. Florida plays Tampa again on Monday. It will be tuff, but there is still some hope.

Sabres are playing awful hockey. They got crushed by the laughs tonite 7-0, absolutely pathetic performance. I didn't see the hit for the Briere suspension but after playing very without key players most of the year it seems as if they can't win without the key guys right now eventhough they won without some of them during most of the regular season. I expect Hecht/Briere/ and possibly Mair in the lineup Monday just wondering who will be the 3rd guy sitting.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about Tampa right now though, Grahame is playing the worst hockey of his career. But I am worried about Atlanta, they are playing just as good as the Panthers. If Luongo didn't pull that stupid move the other night against Carolina, the Cats would be 2 pts. closer than they are now, the playoff race will be interesting!

Man where the heck did HUET come from. Looks like the last 3 months he has carried Montreal to the playoffs.

This could be the best playoffs ever from a Canadian perspective. Every Canadian team can make the playoffs except for the team we all love to hate the MAPLE LAUGHS:lol:

Huet is incredible! You notice how all these goalies you've never heard of are popping up and doing amazing! Auld, Labarbera, Tim Thomas, Huet, I've never heard of any of them. You think the new NHL is making it possible for them? Just a theory, nothing else has changed?

Goaltenders have this way of coming out of no where. Usually it is a case of experience. 'Tenders usually come into their own in their mid/late 20's. Because the NHL game is so different then junior/college it takes some adjustment.

Alot of it is circumstance as well. Alex Auld took the ball and ran with it when Cloutier got hurt. He's always been highly thought of as a prospect, he just arrived earlier then people thought he would. Although, this was the season he was expected to play 25-30 games.

With a guy like Huet it is also circumstance. Montreal was desperate and he took the oppurtunity.

Sometimes the lightbulb just goes on for goalies. One minute they are stiffs and the next they are superstars in the making. Sometimes they only need a chance. Miikka Kiprusoff is a prime example of this he was the fifth wheel in San Jose, Calgary gives up a 2nd rounder for him and bang, best goalie in hockey.

Tim Thomas is another case entirely. He is a lifeling minor leaguer who has caught lightning in a bottle. I don't see him sustaining it long term. Especcially when Andrew Raycroft is healthy for next season.

don't forget about jean-sebastian aubin - guy hadn't played an nhl game in 2 years and is now 3-0 with a 7-0 shut out over buffalo with the leafs slim playoff hopes on the line

Nice points, Yeah I remember Kiprusoff, this guy came out of no where. Luongo is the same case too, Islanders had him as a backup, and the Panthers sent Parrish and I'm not sure who else it was, but they got Luongo and Jokinen, the best trade in franchise history! Except Luongo is no 1 season deal, He is a solid goalie, I can only imagine him backing up a strong defense. I'm just afraid that he will be traded, and then the Panthers are back where they were without him, 26th or 27th in the league...

The Luongo case is a little different. You have to realize that Mike Milbury is an idiot. He had the #1 pick in the draft and became so enamoured with Rick Dipietro that he talked himself into trading Roberto Luongo.

The trade was Luongo and Jokinen for Parrish and Kvasha.

If Milbury had a brain in his head, he would have done what EVERYONE was telling him to do....draft Danny Heatley or Marion Gaborik first overall and keep Luongo. This is Mike Milbury we are talking about though...

Again, good points, you follow a lot of hockey?

Being Canadian my earliest childhood memories are of watching Hockey Night in Canada with my old man. You'll find a lot of Canadian males who have that same childhood memory. Hockey is a religion here.

I don't watch as much as I used to because my team (the Bruins) have **** the bed so badly the last, I dunno, 10+ years that it turns me off the game.

As soon as the playoffs start though I'll be doing my usual routine. Watching every game, everyday...
