It's Time to Toss the Season, Find the QB of the Future and Admit a Painful Truth

This team has no heart and they haven't had one in nearly 20 years. How many big plays have either one of them made in a game that mattered when the division lead or playoff spot was on the line?
JT can be excused today because of his foot, but let's be honest, they were playing against an O-line made up of backups.
Where was the big sack or turnover in the game today, when the game was on the line?

What about the goal-line stands they have been involved in (MORE THAN ONCE THIS YEAR...THREE STRAIGHT TIMES VS. THE BRONCOS)??????? At least those contributions allowed our offense to get the ball right back, and possibly afford them the opportunity to get back into games...

How do you measure "heart," and who are you to say they of all players don't have it? There are 9 others on the defensive side of the ball too...

You have to pick and choose your fights...this argument doesn't wash...

Newsflash: We only have two more wins than the Texans. We're not going to make the playoffs this year, just like the Texans.

We might as well cash in on our remaining JJ-era superstars now, while they're still worth something, rather than cutting them two or three years from now when we're truly in position to compete for a Super Bowl championship. We might as well stock up on draft picks by unloading our JJ-era superstars. I'm confident Saban will find equally talented, yet far younger, defensive talent over the next few offseasons.

That is a horrible suggestion. I completely disagree with "tanking" this season. We've been in every game up until the end. Yes, we only have two more wins than the Houston Texans, but on the other hand; we only have two less wins than the New England Patriots and we still have one more game against them, so I do not see your point. We can't just give up this early, we have to continue to compete and play with pride. If we tank the season, what kind of example are we showing potential free agents for this upcoming off-season when we try to to sign them? In order to entice top free agents to sign with us, we have to show them that we are heading in the right direction and that will make them want to be a part of our team.

yeah i think the players will gladly do their part to tank the season so there can be players drafted to take their spot

sorry, it just doesn't work

As far as I'm concerned, there's no point in trying to win the rest of the season. Today was our last shot at the division (it's amazing that we were still in the race ten weeks into the year), but now we're as good as dead. There is no way we will make the playoffs. We might as well start our youngest players for the rest of the season, and see how they fare.

I also say it's time to finally admit a painful truth: This offseason we ought to trade Zach Thomas, Sam Madison, and Jason Taylor for draft picks, and truly rebuild. They're expensive veterans who will not be worth their cap number when this team finally rebuilds and is ready to contend for a Super Bowl championship. Perhaps Thomas, Madison, and Taylor will find the ring they deserve with another team that could really use them next year and in '07.

I also think we should emulate the Bengals by drafting USC's amazing QB, Matt Leinart, and having Jon Kitna, a very reliable veteran who can show Leinart the ins and outs of the NFL just like he showed Palmer, start for us next year.

If we finish with one of the very worst records in the league, we'll most likely be able to get Leinart. I think we're in great shape on offense two or three years from now with Leinart, Brown, McMichael, and an improved OL. Maybe Chambers will show us he's the real deal someday, too. If we draft Leinart, we can build the team around him and Ronnie Brown. I, for one, am very excited about the possibility.

Saban can, and obviously will, emulate Belichick and rebuild this defense through the draft and free agency over the next couple of offseasons. I have absolutely no doubt about that.

All in all, I think it's time to unload our overpaid JJ-era veterans, find our QB of the future, and truly rebuild. What do you guys think?
OOOOOF!
I see the reasoning behind your post, but find it difficcult to agree with you. Vets for picks...sounds like a great idea. Free up more cap space, get young talent on the field, start fresh, new faces, etc...Thing is these guys (even Madison to a lesser degree) are still good. I don't see how any coach or player could take the field with the intention to lose and then face themselves, their families or their teammates. These guys may restructure their contracts over the next 2-3 years to be more cap friendly...who knows. Dumping them off will alienate a lot of fans who are more 'player' fans than 'team' fans and could create animosity in the locker room. I think Nick is an excellent leader and will do fine rebuilding the team over the next couple years, hopefully without having a 'fire sale' on players.

No top FA's want to be here.....we are the NEW Arizona Cardinals.

it's still time left , the bills and pats have rough schedules the rest off the way, we are only 2 games out, and in the nfl , no one game is easy now. we can still make a mark, but have to stop the dumb mistakes, you can't pack in it now

i disagree, alot of free agents came here when saban was onboard..not to mention alot of coaches love what saban is tring to establish

I think the Dolphins should finish with the worst record possible.
What's the sense of being in the middle of the Draft pack at this point?
What's gain from being 6-10 or 7-9? Nothing.
Saban is going to continue his overhaul...as he should...because he needs to bring in guys with a fresh mindset.

That being said...where is the next great QB gonna come from? They say this draft is light after Linehart and if they want him, they better lose the rest of the way.

Will they go after an unproven guy like Rivers or pay a steep price for Brees?

First thing they can do: See what Rosenfels and Lemon are made of.

Then next year they will have an idea. Tell you what, watch this guy Kevin Eakin from Hamilton of the CFL...had a great NFL Europe season...the Jets cut him, he went up there and is tearing the place up.

Free agents are always going to want to play in Miami...and that's not a good thing. Because they should be there to win, not to play around in South Beach chasing girls and who knows what else...and sadly, a lot of guys come here and think it's gonna be a picnic.
Look at the '95 team Shula bought. Freaking awful.

You are disgusting. This thread is disgusting. Anybody who agrees with this opinion is disgusting. And not to mention STUPID. Even if we threw the games (which will be nothing else but an embarrassment to our team and fans) what the h3!! do you think??! Even if we get WHATEVER PLAYER it is that you seem to think will take us to the SuperBowl, you seriously think our team will be COMPLETELY different??? You are rediculous. Tanking games is rediculous. What happens if they get the guy you want and we're still not very much better?? WHat then? Tank ANOTHER season until they get another "saviour"??? Get out of this forum with this CRAP!:fire:
