What will happen to Madison?

I focus fault on Jimmy Johnson for bringing Wanny to the team in the first place. IMO, had Johnson not brought in Wanny, the team would have cleaned house in 2000 and reorganized then - and maybe even given Marino his chance to earn a super bowl ring. And in 2000 and 2001, the team would have groomed a QB behind Marino to lead the team.

In My Opinion

I know Madison said he wouldn't take a pay cut,but if he could live with 2.5 instead of 3.5 mil for next year imo he(could) should stay.I think Clumpy reported his cap hit if we trade/cut him before 6-1 is about 2mil. We're not that far apart.Anyways do you all think Sam can get big money elsewhere? It would have to be a team with a legit shot at a SB and that would have the cap space to give SM 3.5mil for the year.

when i read the title I tought you wanted to know who is to blame for our qb woes or why fin heaven members are losing their minds. I would blame it on the rain ,because is sure as hell aint falling and grass fires are burning the states of texas and okla. up so blame it on the rain that should be falling cause you have to blame it on something yea, yea, damn i should have been a singer.

sam be like ricky

well we all heard that ricky will be happy playing for the league minimum in 2006 so sam be a team player and redo your contract and be part of an exciting team in 2006 and beyond.i feel that sam has gotten better as the season has gone on in saban's system and think that he can still contribute for the next couple of years.but he must redo his thinking and be a team player and reconstruct his contract ,save the team money to sign important ingredients ,and continue his career and retire in the future as a miami dolphin.if not then there is no sam in team player

He stated he will not restructure. So that being said Sam will not be back.

I blame nobody. I don't think Sam is blaming anybody, either. You can't expect a new regime to do what the old one did -- that's a big part of why you bring in new people.

I'm not getting into the debate over whether Sam is as good as ever or has declined over the past couple of years, but I think it is quite evident that he is not as physical as a "Saban corner" needs to be. I think the bottom line is that Sam isn't worth very much to Nick because Nick is building for the long haul and wants physical corners. Why would Sam take what he is worth to Nick when he can go sign with the Packers and reunite with Bates, the Chiefs and reunite with Surtain, or some other team and maximize his money? I will wish Sam well and hope his team does well as long as he gets out of the division (and understanding that I'll root for the Dolphins if ever they play Sam's team). He was a good Dolphin in his time, but it is time for a new defensive backfield.

Does it matter to you at your job how much you get paid? It does to me.

Loyalty is a one-way street in this league... the NFLPA is the weakest union in the big sports. Contracts are not guaranteed and players are right out the door as soon as it suits the coach/owner/gm. I'm not saying that's wrong, but to complain when the players want to have some say in their own future seems harsh.

There are hundreds of examples of players in football who restructure for the good of the team. That is certainly worthy of praise... but that DOESN'T mean that players that don't or won't are deserving of scorn.

They accomplished a hell of a lot to get where they are... the worst of them is still elite at what they do. It is not shameful for them to get a share of the record breaking profits of football.

The salary cap is too low.... the owners put more and more in their pockets and fans complain about greedy players.

I disagree concerning the contracts because football is different than all other pro sports as a result of the violent nature of the game. Injury affects players careers more than other pro sports. This means the players and union either accept non-guaranteed contracts with bonus money or guaranteed contracts. But if all contracts are guaranteed, no team is going to offer long term contracts to any player. The NFL would become a league of 1-2 year contracts, except for QBs and elite players who get the great 3-4 year deals. With no bonus money from future wages if the players are injured they lose out of money they could have secured from future years of the contract with bonus money. Also, with bonus money prorated over the life of a contract teams can offer more up front money to players. While this does mortgage the future cap of nfl teams, this helps the players as long as the league keeps increasing revenue. I'm sure if you as most players if they want a 1 year guaranteed deal or a non-guaranteed contract that has bonus money from future years tied into the contract, they accept the later because of the threat of injury.

I don't know if the the union is weaker because the owners pocketing more money than any other sport mainly because I don't know how much money the players get compared to other leagues.

I chose "other". If this is indeed Sam's last season it's b/c of several reasons including a changed front office, coaching staff, changed skill req. for our D, diminishing skills, etc.

why should sam restructure, he took a paycut last year and they broke the promise they made, he already did it once, i don't look down on sam for not wantin to do it again

Here is a question to all of you. I am sure you have all by now heard madisons talkings about how this is his last year as a fin. if you havent, where have you been.

But the question can be asked whos fault was it that the orgainizations promise to him was broken. If you did not know the front office told sam if he took a pay cut they would use that savings to sign surtain.

Madison took the cut, and then wanny and rick were fired and saban took over. Saban then traded pat. So now we have madison refusing to take a pay cut because he was lied to before. So whose fault is it?

Vote above:

Wanny and Rick: for promising sam somthing and not finishing up on the deal
Saban: for not following through on the promise and resigning pat.
Rick S. only: For trading the 2nd round pick for feeley which we then traded pat for to get one back.
Sam: For realising it was someone else who made the promise and he should not hold this regime responsible. Although it was the same ownership that promised it would do somthing with his money.
And as a kicker, sams former agent: for not adding the stipulation that if pat is not resigned then the money goes back to sam.
and finally, drew R.: We all know and hate him, he is now sams agent and probably telling him dont take a pay cut they werent loyal. Look at eagles and TO man. (blah blah other drew rosenstab blab, blah blah).
NEXT QUESTION!

Sam knows that he will never get the kind of money he wants for next season, from no team. So he had ought to quit whinning, and be happy someone else will want him. But it won't be for 3 million plus, He is way past his prime and i believe it is time for the dolphins to find there next Sam Madison and teach him the system. If Saban is such a good teacher then someone will learn and be alright.

sam has been a great dolphin and if he leaves i will be sad, im glad he was a dolphin and am looking foward to the future with travis daniels and will poole at CB.

Right now, the only problem is Sam creating his problem by running his mouth about personal business instead of concentrating on the New England Patriots. If Sam had a great season and played well for Nick Saban to a value worth his pay, then Saban would likely keep him. The only thing Sam has accomplished by running his mouth is he made himself less valuable to the Dolphins. Saban isn't likely to forget it when he factors in whether or not to keep him.
