Merged: Ronnie Brown/Can He Carry the Load?

The answer is clearly....NO. Why would Ricky be traded? He helps us win now. Saban is all about value, there's no better value in the NFL than Ricky Williams. This post is different than others I've read, because I don't care about what ifs and such.

We are a better team with Ricky Williams than we will be with a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Not to mention, Denver will be competing for the AFC championship. Don't get too greedy. I've seen a ton of posts on here talking about how C-Pep was our 2nd round pick. I'm happy with him as our 2nd rounder in the 2006 draft.

Wake up people, Ricky will be a Dolphin in 2006.

Ronnie is better than Ricky because we pay him more. He has more value to the team. Ricky is a good runner, but is near the end of his career (by age, by interest in football, or by one drug test) and therefore isnt as valuable to the team. If he can bring a trade, then he is more valuable that way.

Wah, I didn't know my wife was on this board!

Now I know why your name is Perfect!

How original and clever all at the same time. Pat yourself on the back for that one.

Ricky is expendable + Ricky has trade value = Ricky is trade bait

Simple as that.

I don't know if Ronnie is better than Ricky. Ricky has experiance and a natural talent. Ronnie has youth and natural talent. Ricky was able to find holes better....But I would assume with maturity in the league Ronnie will be able to slow the game down and make the cutbacks that will give him bigger runs. They are both good recievers....Ronnie is a better blocker..He's faster, bigger, stronger...Whew it's getting close....2gether they make the most dangerous combo in the NFL. The most potential atleast.

Did you say Ronnie is "faster, bigger and stronger"??? Faster perhaps, but DEFINATELY not Bigger or Stronger......

I find it funny that some of the members of this board wish to dismiss Ricky so quick in favor of Ronnie. Granted, RB is the future and will be a premier
back in the NFL, but at this point we need two good backs. RW needs to
be here to teach RB the finer points of the game from a physical point of
view. It just seems to be a bandwagon type of attitude here against RW,
if we knew for sure that he was going to win his appeal and be able to play,
most of you would be cheering him on. Since it is uncertain, your just saying
trade him, get rid of him. I find this ridiculous. I also have to disagree with
one poster saying RW doesn't play hard. I can't recall one play where he
doesn't give it his all. You can bash his drug use, but you can deny he is
a great back when playing. I feel we need the Ricky/ Ronnie combo for one
more year, till Ronnie is ready to take the lead back role.

Tim

Actually, it was RW who said he didn't always play hard. It was also RW who had to be talked into returning in the 2nd half of his game against Buffalo. This was before his retirement so you can claim it was all in the past which we all hope is true, but even last year RW made many mental errors in pass blocking. Was this lack of concentration, effort? Who knows, but it's clear those lapses cost us points. We all hope he's fully committed nowbut to say he has always played hard for us is simply inaccurate.

Ronnie is significantly bigger and stronger than Ricky Williams.

6' 232 v. 5'10 215-220.

And all you have to do it watch the two run to see that Ronnie is significantly more powerful.

Yeah he physically weighs more as of right now and is stronger....Not the Ricky that was drafted...The new Ricky who perfers to be smaller and faster.....but still not faster than Brown.

Ricky does however know how to sniff out a crease and take advantage of it better than Brown.

Not to say I don't think Ronnie is an outstanding football player, but as of April 25, 2006, Ricky is better. Next year, halfway through the season, who knows. No what if this, what if that...I don't even think it's an issue with Saban if Ricky wins his appeal. He stays a Dolphin.

Ricky is a far better Runner (Thanks to experience), but Ronnie is a better Blocker, is faster, stronger, and could be a much better receiver out of the backfield.

Ronnie in the long run could be a far more complete RB then Ricky, but I do not know if he will be as explosive a runner as Ricky.

do u seriously think that if the appeal comes through he will be playing behind ronnie?? i think not

I think he will, there is no way Ricky will be starting over Ronnie....And I like Ricky, but don't fool yourself.

Wow, another Ronnie vs. Ricky thread. No way...I've never seen this before. Can't you just search for a thread thats already created instead of starting a new one every week. This topic has been totally over-analyzed.

Then why are you here reading it?

In case you wee not paying attention to last season, Ronnie has not only shown premier RB abilities (Elite speed for a RB, elite power for a RB w/ speed, Explosive through the Middle, fast to the corner) he also showed Abilities premier RB are not able to do (Premier blocker, great receiving back out of the backfield).
