Merged: Ronnie Brown/Can He Carry the Load?

We have a pounder in Kay jay Harris. But bring in another back doesn't seem too much like a bad idea.
I think Kay Jay will get a lot more reps in camp then he is used to. We will have to see how he is looking. If not the draft, may look at the June 1st wavier wire.

Josh, I'll ask you what I ask everyone else.

What's wrong with Sammy Morris? No running back we draft in the 4th round will be better than he is.

And no way do I want to spend the 3rd rounder on a running back. There will still be plenty of good players available at positions we could use.
i completely agree, sammy morris is good. he was the best back we had on that attrocity of a season in 04. ( although that aitn saying much) i like sammy morris, so we are okay. no backs in the draft or trade, we have more pressing needs

Morris is just fine as a backup. That was an excellent call by Nick.

Miami has Kay Jay Harris. You have to figure he just got promoted onto the roster. I do think they should draft somebody with a 7th or sign a rookie free agent to push him, though.
Agreed. Maybe keep an eye on NFL Europe as well.

He better.

WOW!!! Are you serious. Please name 1 thing he does better than ronnie? He's fat, out of shape, and slooooooooooow. Not to mention Ronnie has some of he best hands of any RB. What kind of "power" back only lifts 250lbs 14 times. Jeremy Bloom did more reps than that. White wheighed in at about 250 at USC pro day and said he's hoping to get down to 230. Ronnie weighs 235 and has 4.4 speed. Lendale can't touch his toes that fast. Not to mention White has a torn hammy.

Edit: I almost forgot about his poor work ethic.

I don't know why I bother to reply to some of these posts.

The only RB I would be willing to take in the 4th is Hall from USF...

i really dont want to use a pick at RB, i just dont think that would be the best value for any of our picks. maybe a RB/FB tweener, actually i think that would be the best move.

Style wise, Ronnie and Kay Jay are pretty much the same backs when it comes to running style. Except Ronnie brown is faster and has better hands (though Kay Jay has hands as well). Kay-Jay is a pure running back while Ronnie... you get RB, FB, and WR in one.

Edit: But those two... they can be beasts.

If Jason Taylor goes down... who will step in and PRODUCE????? No one... thats not how depth works...

Sammy Morris is a solid backup...

Yeah, I know my point was, if Ronnie goes down can Morris run like Larry Johnson did when Priest went down.

HAte to be a hater, but all i kno is last week all i saw on this site was fans saying Ricky is sooo much better, and we need him b/c Ronnie cant do it....Everyone was trashing Ronnie, and I had to come to his aide then....funny how quickly you all have to change ure tunes....GO RONNIE, GO FINS....**** RICKY
Hey Nub, I know you are around, can you post the AWSOME Ronnie 60 yds TD run against KC ...

That should silence some of the critics...:tantrum:

Sammy was more than serviceable before with a terrible team around him. He could get the job done. Don't forget, Seattle wanted him to back up Alexander.

Yeah, no doubt I like Sammy but can he be reliable?? That's all I was asking.

Like Jimmy James said we still have to bring someone in to push Kay Jay for that roster spot.

Nothing wrong with Morris from a playing standpoint(Wanny term. ). However, beyond Morris our third back is Minor. :( Minor is really just on the team because he is very good on ST, but I wouldn't really count on him to get carries. Ok, maybe a running back on Day 1 isn't a good idea, but drafting a running back on the second day(even if it is with one of our 7th round picks) has to be considered. Morris is only signed to a one year deal(we almost lost him to Seattle this offseason), so we need to develop a solid backup for the future behind Ronnie. Ricky may return in 2007, but he will already be in his 30's and will have only played in 12 games during a three year span. We need to think future. :)
