Quarterback wish list may get smaller

We are to be reborn and cleansed of Wannputts & Stuban.

GM calls it retooling
Randy Mueller said offseason changes the Dolphins are making should not be viewed as an overhaul. 'We're reshuffling,' he said.

``Obviously we decided to make some changes. But we're definitely not considering that to be rebuilding changes. We're reshuffling. And we need change. We were 6-10. We can't sit pat on that hand. So we plan to make the right decisions to make us better and give us the best chance to win come September.''

I can agree we are retooling the defense but the offense looks like a rebuild.
The OL is going to be rebuilt, the QB will be different, the TE will be different, the FB will be different and the offensive philosophy will be different.

I guess it depends on how you define rebuilding.
Jason Taylor does not like the word

While Jason Taylor said Monday the Dolphins are in a stage of rebuilding - something he previously said he had little use for - Taylor won't ask off the reclamation project early.

"We are looking for young guys and you have to in this league," Taylor said. "There are different levels of rebuilding. Hopefully we're not in a little tear-down part."

What do you think ?

Nice post. Retooling or rebuilding mean the same thing--You are losing!

As Jason says, there are just different levels as to how bad you are. Personally I believe we are better than we look on paper. This years outcome will depend largely on how well the QB/O line play. At the moment with all the talk, we dont even know who our QB is going to be, so it is hard to judge at the mo!

Rebuilding in today NFL is a fast process, in one season with the right retooling you can be competitive.

I think we're doing alittle bit of both {if that's possible}.....

Having a new head coach, and finally allowing the GM to work his magic, Miami is heading into a new direction. The talent on the roster is improving in my opinion, but at the same time, areas like the OL / QB have been neglected for far too long.....

The defense has been stellar, and still remains one of the NFL's top units, it's the offense where we've been way too up and down, and have not shown enough consistancy. I think adding an offensive minded head coach like Cameron, will prove to be a very wise investment in the years to come....

But to answer the question, I think we're doing alittle bit of both. Our drafts under Wanny / Spielman were just so poor, we've really never been able to infuse enough young talent, and use the draft to our future benefit. That will change under Mueller....

Palm Beach Post: Taylor accepting 'rebuilding' project

Did not see this posted:

DAVIE — While Jason Taylor said Monday the Dolphins are in a stage of rebuilding - something he previously said he had little use for - Taylor won't ask off the reclamation project early.

"I would like to see progress but I'm not going to ask for a trade," Taylor said at his charity golf tournament, which was hosted by the Seminole Indian Tribe. "That's not who I am. I signed up for this, signed a deal and I look forward to and accept the challenge of trying to help this team turn around."

I can't imagine Jason Taylor in another team's uniform. Its like... a transvestite or something.

I wouldn't want to have another team experience the intensity and excitement he brings to the game, I'm selfish like that

I couldn't see Zach or JT in any other uniform but the Phins. :( I'm ok with rebuilding but we aren't going anywhere unless we get a decent QB.

it's so nice to hear a comment like this from an NFL player (or head coach for that matter) nowadays and actually feel comfortable believing that he truly means it. JT is a standup guy I hope he has many more prosperous years with us and that our team can someday soon reward him and zach with the ring they so deserve. it was a shame to see marino retire without a ring, I would feel so bad to do that to 2 more legendary players

Go Phins

If Zach or Jason end up on another team before retirement I'll be FURIOUS and hate the coach/GM who does it. They're Dolphins damnit.

now if we can just get the zach thomas trade rumor off the site we will be good
what coach in their right mind would trade the nfl's leading taclker for the last 10 years or the DPOY?

I wonder how many Pats fans hate Pioli / Belichick?? They've traded away almost all of their Pro Bowler players over the years. They've also replaced just about all of them through excellent drafting. Much of that drafting being a result of trading away those players.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

It's pretty obvious that we are rebuilding. If any other team would make the moves the Fins made, we wouldn't even argue about it. If that isn't rebuilding, I don't know what is. However, there's no coach in this league who would CALL it rebuilding. That's not what you do. Rebuilding suggests that you don't care a whole lot about the results this year (which basically comes close to what Mueller and Cameron are implying with their moves), but saying it out loud is another matter. If you admit to rebuilding, you lose your lockerroom. That's why you don't say it even if you do it.
