That's still much cheaper than the contract Daunte would bring in, and Brees is coming off 2 straight ProBowl years. DC had the worst year of his life and a DEVASTATING triple-ligament knee injury.

In the short run, we'd be better off bringing in Brees than signing Culpepper, and in the long run we'd be better off bringing in Ramsey or McCown for a 2nd-Day pick to push a rookie QB we get on the first day than to pick up what's left of a 10-year 102 Million contract and a QB who we won't know the physical status of until mid-season.

Culpepper looked really horrible for the first four games or so last year and then he just really turned it around and played great right before getting hurt. I remember so many games where DC just found Moss all day long, and I think he could do the same thing with Chambers. I can live with either Culpepper or Brees.

Whoa rookie! How can you say something like that and not back it up. The knee injury is MUCH more significant than that of Drew Brees' shoulder. Culpepper is out for probably half of next season and Brees will be throwing by May.

This poll is garbage. You're givin more than 4 options to choose from when you create a thread. Zach? Crowder? Ugh.....
 
That is very good to hear. I am scared to death that Daunte will come here, miss half the season and we will be stuck with Frerotte for at least a few more games. Brees is the only guy who should be on our radar.
 
I don't believe in culppeper rumors....and why

1/ all saban FA sigining have passed an visit before a deal in place......and I don't see why saban change his strategy for culppeper and he seems that brees have a visit this week no ?

2/smoke screen, saban don't want give draft pick and He want a lower salary as posible for brees, so rumors is good for that.

3/Saban want a younger QB and culppeper is 29, not really younger and his play take many hurt.

The only reason for saban culpper choice over brees could be the shoulder injury of brees not really healing.

It's just my opinion and for you ?

3.brees is a great player but if saban is going to go with a deep passing game like last year than brees might not be who we need and his arm might not be as strong. cullpepper has a cannon for a arm and should be ready for the 06' season according to PFT.

bottom line i trust saban and if he trades for dc it will be the right move.

I don't really believe anything that's being reported at this point. Until Chris Mortenson or John Clayton come on ESPN and say that a deal has been made, I'm just going to toss everything into the hearsay category.
 
I think DC will dictating the terms not Wilf....sometimes owners give in to their Superstar's demands just so they can get a decent player in return. The longer they drag it out in Minny the more it hurts Minny.
 
Good post, I completely agree. Someone else mentioned that this could be a leak from another team who wants to push Brees away from Miami and that makes sense to me. I don't see any way Saban goes after Culpepper.
