Givens and taken away: The first weird free-agency report of the night came from Cleveland, when the team's Web site reportedly signed Patriots wide receiver David Givens and Ravens punter Dave Zastudil. The only problem was it wasn't true.
Now, Given's isn't even going to visit Cleveland. Givens will be in Miami Saturday and will go to the Houston Texans on Sunday. The price tag for Givens went up above where the Browns wanted to pay.
Givens' agent, Brad Blank, theorized that someone hacked into the Browns' computer, which is what accounted for the mistake.

Forget givens he will be an over priced average reveiver

I personally like Givens. I don't want to spend too much on him but that guy is money. I have a feeling that his price tag won't be out of this world because he doesn't have the stats to get a huge contract unless a bidding war starts. I could be wrong though.

Yea that's a priority area we need to be focusing on right now...........NOT!!!

Have you even seen the man play football???

The Sporting News had Givens rated as the 11th best wideout in the NFL in their 2005 Scouting Guide. He is a clutch wideout and would be an AWESOME complimentary WR opposite Chambers.

Saban wouldn't have scheduled a visit for him if he didn't think he could help the team, and no offense, but the opinions of both The Sporting News and Coach Saban carry a tad more clout than your opinion.

he will make more than he deserves because the FA market for wide receivers is so thin. i don't see givens as an upgrade over booker and don't think that FA money should be spent on a WR

HE IS AS SOLID A WR AS YOU WILL FIND....GREAT HANDS AND A GREAT ATTITUDE......

i like anyone who is YOUNG, and Givens is YOUNG. But Givens isnt Owens, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Hines Ward. I dont think he deserves big bucks, PLUS we already have Chambers/Booker/Campbell/Welker. We really DONT need another wideout, but if Saban wants him, i think he is an upgrade for sure.

Givens is an upgrade over Booker. For Saban, its all about upgrades.

Welcome Givens. Goodbye Booker.

Yeah this was my thought as soon as I read it, if we sign Giving it will be to a contract probably a little more than what Booker is getting. plus Givens is young and he is leaving a division rival.

There has been alot of teams that are wanting Givens to visit them. Hopefully Givens was impressed so much by Saban that he will sign a contract with us today.

I think Givens would be a great addition without getting rid of Booker, a great three man rotation with Chambers and Book, but, without know the kind of $$ he's asking for, i'm skeptical. My Wishes are Brees, Givens, Mawae, Adams as free agents, and Justice at #16 in the draft..

I agree, why get rid off Booker? Chambers, Givens, Booker and welker, awsome quartet :D.
