merged 5x:Frerotte's parting shot/ Gus sounds off / Hey Frerotte

Gus knew from the "After the season Press Conference" that Nick held that we'd be looking for a possible change at the Starting QB position. To act as if he was disrespected when EVERYONE knew what the situation was is sour grapes on his part. I knew, you knew, EVERYONE knew we were looking to upgrade the QB position, usually upgrading the position Gus, means not keeping the same guy that was in there before..

What the hell do you want him to say? There is nothing wrong with what he said there, he took no aggressive shot at the team. He said what any person in his position would say, and no one can doubt that. The fact that you guys are making an issue of of that statement is unbelieveable.

He did a fine job for us in the situation we were in and I wish him success in the future.

Totally agree. If thats all he said. Media trying to make a big thing out of nothing. And funny thing is people are eating it up.:shakeno:

People Chill.......

people in this country including athelets can not handle the truth

Uh, let's see..........Culpepper or Ferrotte....Se ya Gus! Team needed an upgrade. Period. Anytime you have an opportunity to upgrade at a position, you do it. QB is the most critical position on the team. Gus knew this was coming.

Crybaby Gus

I'm sorry but Gus thinks he is alot better than he is. He was what the 28th rated QB last year or something horrible like that. He barely completes half of his passes and he takes credit for Miami's Victories.!!
This is what I hate about INDIVIDUALS getting too much credit or blame for TEAM success. Trent Dilfer was the QB for a super bowl winning team so was Brad Johnson. Are we going to say that they are both better than Peyton Manning. Stupid logic. Here are Gus's quotes:

"Personally, I don't think things were handled the right way,'' Frerotte said. "After playing 16 games, winning nine after they only won [four] the year before, and then to just kind of be put on the back burner, that was kind of tough."

MAYBE if you completed more passes you would still have a starting job. But the ironic thing is Gus you idiot.NO-ONE wants you are a starting QB you signed on as a back-up, you know why? Because you aren't a very good starting QB in the NFL even after what 13 years. And it is a moronic to pay a back up QB $4 million/year.

Somewhere, Chris Chambers is smiling.

Disclaimer: I realize he made the Pro Bowl, but the numbers could have been even better, and his big game against Buffalo was mostly Sage.

Be careful there, in his support of re-signing Frerotte, Joe Rose was quick to point out that Chambers was in the top 7 in the NFL for dropped passes. The Dolphins as a team were in the top 10.

exactly n ppl saywe have a great WR core. not when they drop passes dudes

And if this stat existed, I would GUARANTEE, Gus was #1 in overthrown balls (or underthrown for that matter).

Gus's agent convinced him he was 1st string caliber. Bad advise from his agent. Agents only think about how much money they can make for thier clients. And not the best fit for thier clients. Gus and Drew were good examples of my point.

Definitely a cry baby. I distinctly remember Saban sticking by his quarterback during the season when the fans and the media wanted his head. Way to go Gus. Dissing the man who just kept your NFL career alive for a few more years.

exactly, at 3-7 alot of people were not happy with gus, and thanks to sage he helped us get out of that whole basically, then Saban backed Gus as our qb when he came back even though alot wanted sage. weak...he will be 2nd string in STL also so i dont know if he even has a leg to stand on.

Saban released Frerotte shortly after acquiring Daunte Culpepper on Tuesday because Frerotte was unwilling to take a pay cut and rework his contract.

"Personally, I don't think things were handled the right way,'' Frerotte said. "After playing 16 games, winning nine after they only won [four] the year before, and then to just kind of be put on the back burner, that was kind of tough."

Wow, what cahones...He fails to mention that he had to be bailed out 2 of the last 6 games by Sage. He fails to mention all the inaccurate passes he made that cost us games early in the season. He talks as if he was the only reason we won any games last year.

Saban did not sugar coat things, and said from the end of the season that we'd be looking to upgrade the QB position (among other positions)...Like this is a surprise to Gus that he'd be asked to play the backup role for backup pay ?? A 34 year old never-was QB has a solid team around him and he talks as if he was the reason any games were won ??

I have totally lost all respect for the player, much less the man...

exactly saban said that and whe teh season ended Gus said taht he will be back next year, he will be the starter and doesn't care what people say. apparently he is in some sort of denial or having major problems in life. if you complete 52% of ur passes and lead the league in that cathegory as teh worst, you shoudl have no right to speak.

yeah he was getting paid too much i liked the guy. i thought he could win but he couldnt give us that extra edge we need so why not upgrade and save millions of dollars????? gus is an idiot remember when he knocked himself out running into the wall????? lol what an idiot go to st. louis frerotte and suck it up behind bulger!

Gus came in and did about as well as anyone could have expected (although during the 1-6 stretch from games 4 thru 10, I for one was calling for his head). But I don't think we'll be retiring his # anytime soon. I'm sure he was given every opportunity to restructure, and there were reports that we were still interested even after he was let go. What else did he expect? Saban was up front about wanting to upgrade the position. He said so as soon as the season ended. I thought the whole situation was actually handled very well as far as the Dolphin organization is concerned. Just my opinion.
