Say what you want, but for his age, speed and experience, they got a good deal. I know I'll take heat for it since he couldn't catch a cold, even if you wiped snot on him, but a young decent corner for 3 a year aint bad.

Allen isn't that young (27 isn't young for a corner) and was a terrible cover corner, but it's a good deal because he's got talent and he's capable of covering people. He sucked at it for the most part, but he had a 6-game stretch last season where he was close to lock down. Demonstrated that he can do it. And although most of his pass deflections are "should've been" INTs, he is among the league leaders in passes defensed. Not a bad deal and at this point, I think he's about equivalent to Madison.

Though I was disappointed in Will's performance and the fact that he never reached his potential, I felt he played hard and was a good tackler. He also played well against the run.

well i guess him breakin up passes and not bein able 2 finish w/ and interseption isnt as bad as some of our corneers just gettin burnt right
 
Yeah, if he's dropping interceptions instead of getting tourched for touchdowns, that will be a major upgrade over Reggie Howard. Who knows, maybe, JUST MAYBE, between now and the time the season starts, Nick might team him how to actually catch the ball and that will be a bonus!
 
If Will Allen makes 3 tackles this year, that will be 2 more than what Madison made last season. Sam isn't a tackling type of player. Sam is a penalty on every 5 snaps and tackles once a year player.
 
We all liked Madison, but Allen is younger, faster and a better tackler. Ill take that everyday of the week.

I couldn't agree more! I was at the Chargers game last year with my buddy who is a HUGE SD fan and everytime Madison made a tackle I would stand up and YELL "That is Sam's 2nd tackle of the year!" over and over- he had 5 tackles on the game and everyone sitting around us were getting annoyed by me (except the fins fans)


I just looked up tackling stats- Will Allen has nearly the same amount of tackles in 5 years that Sam had in his 9 with us!

He does make a bigger impact on the passing game, however. I just hope Allen can catch better than everyone says he does!

ill take taht then madison taht couldn't get an INT for 3 yrs or 2 yrs. AT LEAST ALLEN was in position for INT's where as MAdison never was.

from the looks at that saban is really looking at corners that can tackle which makes me happy, i hated that sam couldn't tackle well at all

agreed.
I always cringed when i saw Madison trying to make a tackle. IMO ALLen is perfect for Sabans system..

I hope that Will Allen doesn't make all those STUPID penalties that Sam always made.
 
dont worry what they say.all i know is allen is young and ready to learn from a good coach like saban who focuses on the db position
