Peterson Signing Dimishes Chances of Landing Arrington

7 years $54mil for Peterson from the Seahawks. $10 mil in the first year. The Postons arent releasing the details of the entire contract. But I'm willing to bet Arrington doesn't sign for a cent less than Peterson. Arrington has garnered interest from more teams than Peterson. There are still a lot of teams out there with a lot of cap room looking to sign a big name. I think it would be best for us to start looking at other options.
It doesn't look good. But like someone else said, don't count Saban out. I used to listen to Lavar's radio show up here in DC... I wouldn't blame him if he went for the money, obviously... but there's more to this guy than just that. He's a 'team player' type. Rare. If either one, between JP and LA, were to sign based off preferring a good team vs payday, it'd be Lavar. (imo)

Don't count him out yet.

If Saban can make it happen than Saban should be are next President of the United States and convince Ben laden to Surrender.

Lavar wants to win the Mega Lotto. And he just might get that kind of money. But its not going to be from Saban

Boy, your full of positivity. Alright then, what should we do for that spot!!

I'd try and bring back Jr Sea and develop a LB thru the Draft

I used to love hearing him on the John Thompson show. But we were offering him somewhere around $8 mil guaranteed money. Wil Witherspoon and David Thornton got around that much (i believe witherspoon got around $12mil actually). I understand and agree that Lavarr might not be all about the money. But you also have to understand that he paid $4mil to get out of DC. And for him to take half as much guaranteed money as Peterson is ridiculous. I expect him to get around $12mil in guarantees. If the Dolphins are willing to spend that kind of money, I would love to have Lavarr. But everything we've seen out of Saban and Mueller indicates they wont spend that kind of money on a LB.

remember when Jack del Rio was our LB. And Jimmy Johnson drafted a LB to develop. Guess who that LB was ?

Who in this years draft is looking good in a Dolphins uniform?

I am hearing Greenway how 'bout you?

The CBA will drive player salaries higher. A seven year contract, like that of JP illustrates that. Arrington will probably start on a 3 mill (roughly) base salary with incentive clauses and a reasonably large signing bonus. Other than that, it would be ridiculous to say we couldn't afford him with the cap set to change as it is.

Don't think thier is a LB in the draft of Lavar Arrington's caliber.

Forget Arrington. Sign Law, and draft an LB with our #1.

Our secondary will go from hopefully good--> Excellent
Drafting a rookie LB gives us a very good LB core.

Younger in both positions, while having solid veterens and a lot of talented depth.

Law's price could come down more than Arrington's at this point, and thedraft is packed with a lot of first round draft picks.

That is a good idea, Saban can find talent in the draft "Linebacker"

Yeah, I think that Seattle losing Hutchinson affected us getting Julian Peterson. And now... because of this huge contract that Peterson received, I think will greatly hurt our chances of acquiring LaVar.

Do you really think that Saban can convince Lavar Arrington to play in Miami for less ?

dont be confused by the $54 million number. that mean's nothing. all that matters is what's up front and what's gauranteed.
