Sour Gus

The point isn't Gus or hating him or loving him.
Like all the players that did their job and turned Miami around after the Saban fiasco to start the season, they are now being screwed.
The point is Saban is a monster and a tyrant like coaches are in college, but it will bite him in the NFL.
Gus speaks a lot of truth he just isn't articulate enough about the root cause, Saban.
Every last player was put in limbo (contract-wise) before the start of the 2005 year and that resulted in total confusion and losses.
But the vast majority of players were able to overcome the chaos and recover the last half of the season, including Gus.
I am happy for Gus to get a good contract and no ST. LOUIS isn't going anywhere this year and neither is MIAMI.
The FINS did get a pervert for QB. Smooth move ex-lax.
Oh and yes look at Saban's guru, Capers the only man in NFL history to screw up a team worse than Saban could.
Now as we pass into oblivion we only have the good old days of '74 to comfort us.
The only thing that will save MIAMI is if Saban's learning curve toward human caring is radically increased, cause they ain't going to fire him. (Not until they get a Franchise Player that has the juice to put his foot down and stop Saban.)

Wow... a Saban-hater...first post I've seen that is this negative about Saban...A DC-hater and Caper-hater too...wow...the trifecta...

I think you're over-reacting to the Gus thing, but who knows for sure...I don't think there were any harsh words spoken between Gus and Saban. In fact, I doubt seriously that Saban was even in with the agent and/or Gus during negotiations. I'm sure they talked, and Saban probably said that he still intented to upgrade the QB position (BTW, that's his job). Gus was the one who has been a bit high on himself, since Jan 2nd when he stated he was sure he'd still be the starting QB in 2006...(see the article in the Herald)...Gus has done some good things, but certainly not that good. Certainly not enough to warrant a claim to the starting job here. Now, of course, DC is the designated starter. You obviously don't like that idea either, but even if he can't start the season, he's still the best qualified QB we've had here since Danny...even if he's a pervert !!

This post was a little too scewed to the negative...have a chocolate bar and a drink and relax...

Like who ??

The only thing that will save MIAMI is if Saban's learning curve toward human caring is radically increased

Do you work for a non-profit organization, or are a volunteer in the peace corps ?

Football is a business, and Saban knows how to run his team as a business, whether in college or the pros.

What happened in '74??...all I can remember is that the Dolphins lost Csonka, Kiick and Warfield to the World Football League...what was so good about that. But, go further back...do you remember the coach by the name of Lombardi ? Makes Saban look like a kindergarten teacher as far as demeanor is concerned. But, he was successful (check the name of the super bowl trophy). "Winning is everything"...you remember that saying, right...and this one..."nice guys finish last".

I don't see Saban badmouthing his players or running roughshod over anyone...he stands by his player, which is a lot more than most coaches do. His style is what it is...no nonsense, no tolerance...we'll do it my way...

He welcomed Ricky back after what he went through. So, don't start talking **** about "human caring" before doing your homework

Face it, Gus is a back up, and has been for most of his career. He was the 28th ranked out of 32 qb's last season. If Saban payed 5 mil. for a back up qb., people would be ready to hang him...... It's over, Gus in in St. Louis with his friend Scottie and we have Daunte Culpepper. If your not happy about that, the medical field has done wonders with medication for mental health these days...........Hopefully, finding a back up qb will be easier and quicker than the 6 years it has taken to find a starter. Wait, it should be no problem, we have found nothing but back ups for the past 6 seasons.......Get healthy Daunte and get ready !!!!!!!!!!!

Well, for one thing, Saban told Gus before starting to shop that he was upgrading the position. At that point, before the Brees-fever and Pepper-signing, he let Gus' agent know that he would likely not be the starter, but would put provisions in his reworked contract that paid him like a starter if he ended up being the starter..(is that leading Gus on ?) That is when Gus started to biatch...He didn't hold Gus hostage at all, in fact Gus found meaningful employment within days of being cut by us...I didn't see the figures of what Gus got, because I really didn't care, but i'm sure its not starting pay ?? So what did Gus gain ??? Nothing...at any rate, even before DC came on, Gus is what he is...a career backup. He proved that last year with the Fins. He did some nice things, but mostly he proved he was not a starting NFL caliber QB...

This isn't Gus bashing, it's telling it like it is...Again...he was better than AJ, so I have to give him that. Was he better than Ears ?? I don't know...I don't think so based on the results and stats. Ears was much more accurate than Gus, but had weaknesses that Gus didn't have (arm-strength, decision making at critical times, etc)...But then again, that was a different team and different coaching staff.

The bottom line is that Gus didn't do anything worth cheering about as a QB. He had a couple of good games, a several bad games and a few more so-so games. This is fact, not bashing...

Gus never started to ***** about anything while he was here and by holding him hostage, I mean Saban kept him on the roster well into the start of FA knowing if he got either two of those guys he would cut him rather than restructure. This limited where Gus could go and that is why he sort of held him hostage.

Also you're blind if you think Gus didnt do anything worth cheering about last season. People give way too much credit to the low sack count to our line and not enough to Gus just getting the ball away fast and taking hits. He also was very good at managing the game and though not the most accurate passer, was very good at getting the ball to the right person.

Hostage....you are joking.

How about protecting your interest...Plus, they talked to Gus about restructuring his contract...he declined...end of story.

Had Gus been willing to work within the budget constraints the Dolphins had, he would still be around, as the efficient backup he's been most of his career.

On to another subject...this is getting old.

Gus taking shots at Nick and the organization after signing with St. Louis
is a joke. Like the guy with the hot female friend that hopes to one day be
her boyfriend, only she doesn't share the same feelings for him. I mean come
on? He's a nice guy and all but did he really expect to be Miami's starter for
the next few years? Some part of him had to know that Nick Saban would
dump him for a better QB the first chance he got.

...and Saban played him the whole season instead of giving any of the back-ups a chance. In turn, the team gets hit with another 3 mil due to him in incentives. Already out of the playoff race and Saban still keep him under center... and he's complaining. YOUR 55 YEARS OLD YOU LITTLE BIT#@H!!!! It's funny how he can't escape Daunte's shadow.

Hostage lol. There are many teams unsettled at QB how come no one called on Gus. Gus you are a backup and thats more than any of us will be in the NFL enjoy it.

Um. Yeah. Ok. That's why all the players hate him and wish he was gone.

What? Really? You think THAT'S why we started rough??? Wacky.

We'll see. \

A pervert? That's just ignorant. And utterly renders anything else you have to say meaningless.

:shakeno:

Good god.
