Merged: LaVar Arrington threads/Arrington to Giants/Arrington Meeting with Jags

McDuffie said a few minutes ago on 790 the ticket, the following info:

He said he spoke with Arrington last night (they both went to Penn State). Arrington said his first choice is definitely Miami, but whilst their offer is respectable, it is not at the level he is looking for. He did though then go onto say that if he makes it to his planned trip to Jacksonville, he feels he will probably end up staying there and signing with the Jaguars.

The overall feeling seems to be that Miami will sign Arrington if nobody else steps up and offers his asking price. If the Jags get close to that price during his visit this weekend though, that'll be that.

No link etc, this is what I heard while listening earlier :dolphins:
Thanks for sharing brother!:ffic:

That's great Lavar....but what are you going to do when they tell you the same thing????

I asked the Jax guru on another board I visit what there cap looks like. He said they could backload the contract and getting him would be possible. However, they wouldn't really want him for more than 1-2 seasons.

I guess thats something positive on the fins tho. I mean the Jags are a great team. 12-4 last year. They have a shot at making a run to the SB as well as us. So he must see something he likes in the fins.

I think its South Beach and the possibility of hanging out with Shaq etc which might be the main attraction in Arrington's case.

I like to see him at what we feel he's worth not what he feels. If we don't get him we can add depth with guys like Polk or Sharper and through the draft.

Well, if he is going to cost a rediculous amount... I would rather grab Greenway or Lawson in the draft... cheaper, younger, and dont have injury concerns...
In your opinion do you really think Greenway will slip to us?

I live in Jacksonville, and the trend that i have noticed is that they are cheap when it comes to signing big name, especially after getting burned with Hugh Douglas. I think LA will ultimately be a Dolphin and if he does sign with JAX well then we will have a chance to burn him later this season when they come to Miami!

Or lets hope the Jags are cheap, and he accepts our 'reasonable' offer.

Either way I'm happy as a fat kid in a candy store.

I totally agree, he's a great player but Saban won't overpay. Gosh I love Saban!!!

He learned nothing from the Brees deal.

lol guess not, we will prolly trade our 1st now for ray lewis, J/K!!!! that would really suck

of course, not many people are talking about him anymore. IMO I'd rather have Ernie Sims. Outside the obvious homer Hawkeye fans, most say that Greenway wasn't that explosive and dominant this year without Babineaux and Roth on the line. I could see this being another Matt Roth....high hopes and motor, but doesn't really adjust to the NFL as well so far.
