Ogunleye wants Taylor-like money

No one is doubting that he is a good player, but he is not Jason Taylor and doesn't deserve that much money yet. Sign a two year deal, then go out and prove that you deserve Taylor money.

It is a good thing that Ogunleye is a RFA. We can just stick a first round tender on him and hope someone bites.

Ogunleye is not worth anything near Taylor-money. If JT didn't get all of the attention, Ogunleye wouldn't have so many sacks right now.

I've freaking seen guys outright tackle JT this season and not get called. Anyone else notice this a few times? Not pancaked. Just tackled.

i am not at all dissapointed in taylor. just becuase you dont get sacks doest mean your not playing well. Olines are shifting towards taylors side. he is still getting in there and creating havoc.

Sure he is, but he's no JT. JT has done it with O-Gun there or someone else there. Can O-Gun say the same?

Oliver...

I'm kinda hoping someone will make him an outragous offer so we can get a first round pick for him. We'd then have two first rounders to use on oline, QB(if Griese doesn't pan out), CB, or DLine. Taylor can make someone else good on the other side like Jay Williams, or bring back Bromell.

Not a problem

Just stick the 1st round and 3rd round tender on him and make a trade.

Miami finds DE's faster than Buffalo women find the buffet.

Next Year's draft is considered a bumper crop lets get a few young guys.

I just want Wally to keep getting sacks. I'll take re-signing him or the first rounder.

I would like the first rounder and a third. Teams pay for that for double digit sacks extroardinares.

That would be fine with me. We pull DEs out of the team couch for God sake. We will find a replacement.

Finally we would be able to concentrate on OL. If Griese turns out to be our QB hopefully we can invest a pick in OL in the first another in the third and the other pick in a WR.

Fourth rounder DE. The rest maybe S and I don't know maybe one of those injured in college were phenoms like O-Gun was.

JT does more then sack..

#1- he lets everyone else have man to man
#2- he causes penalties (false starts, holding) more then anyone else in the league
#3 When a QB sees him comming, they flush into our other defenders.

every sack made by his presents (not physically) he should get .5 of it.

That is why Ogunleye is not worth spending big money on. Well explained points my friend.

A 1st we could get for O-Gun easily. A 1st and 3rd makes sense if he gets 12 sacks or so.

This year's draft lacks superstart DE's. Someone will bite.

No one will sign him as a RFA if he wants "Taylor" money and also have to give up a #1 and possibly #3. Miami needs to play hardball on these negotiations because O-Gun clearly takes advantage of the talent around him and his future compensation should reflect that of a complimentary player ($3-4 million/yr) not that of a superstar ($6-7 million/yr)

This is exactly the mentality that gets salaries bloated in the NFL. It's not like JT is just standing around out there. Who do you think is collapsing the pocket and causing false starts? I don't have the team stats on hurries and knockdowns, but I would bet JT is on the top of the list. Sacks are only one facet of a DE's game. Hurries cause incompletions and INTs. Tackles for loss on the running back are just as good as a sack. And JT is very good there. I bet most of his tackles are for loss. Knockdowns make the QB think twice about holding for that 3rd or 4th read next time. Forced fumbles, JT has 3. Need I go on?

The fact is that they are both big time players. And yes O-gun is for real. But to say that he is picking up JTs slack is absurd. What the team needs now is harmony and Drew Rosenhaus is not contributing to that. Sensationalism does not win games. So making a big deal out of half a season is a bit out of perspective. There is enough time to discuss contracts after the season.

Taylor is doing ok getting pressure on some plays but the Penalties have to stop. I'd sign Ogun to a long contract now. Start negotiating. I wouldn't be opposed to a $25 mil deal like Fiedler's thats backloaded. Ogun is worth the money.

I tend to agree with groove12. Ogun had posted these numbers two years in a row. It's not like he is not getting attention from opposing teams. He had 9 and a half last year and is on pace for 15 this year. How many does the guy oposite Strahan have?? Just because you are oposite of someone does not mean you do not have to make the plays. He has made the plays. That is what this league is all about. Of course Jason makes him better, but he still has to make the plays, and has.
I don't think he has JT money in his future, but that is just neg. talk. He is good and I for one would hate to lose him. I'm not worried though, because no team is gonna give up that much for him.
As for JT, it was me who predicted he would not crack the double digit sack total for the year back in preseason. Everyone laughed and said I was crazy, that he was going for the record this year. It is just hard for someone to have back to back years like that. I also in that same thread said the same thing about RW. I will have to go back and look but I think I predicted 1200.
