Colts | Time for Manning to Get Paid - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 20 Jan 2004 20:19:55 -0800
John Oehser, of Colts.com, reports Indianapolis Colts owner and Chief Executive Officer Jim Irsay is prepared to make QB Peyton Manning the richest man in the NFL. "I'm willing to make him the highest-paid player in the league, but it has to be within reason because we have to be able to field an entire team," Irsay said. Manning's current contract expired at the end of this season. The Colts will either ink the 2003 NFL Co-MVP to a long-term deal or designate him as their franchise player, meaning Indianapolis will have to pay him the average salary of the top five highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.
...well, looks like they really want to retain Manning; even it means giving up the team that brought them to the AFC Championship this year.
Who would they get rid of?
