I agree , he should play another and prove that maybe this year wasnt a one time deal, and maybe Miami will give him a long term deal in 05

The problem is Seattle's GM needs to be kicked in the head. That Wistrom contract was flat out STUPID.

The Wistrom contract makes great sense in light of the Kearse deal. If anybody needs to get kicked in the head for a stupid deal, it was the genius who gave an injury prone DE a deal like that.

Why does it matter if Ogun suits up???

Lets be honest here if Ogun were so valuable and such a stud DE would not have someone offered at least a 1st round choice for him?

Ogun has a history of injuries (check his college days)

Ogun is undersized for a DLE (heck most DRE are bigger than he is)

Ogun's run talents are at best questionable (check the tape) and horrible if the TE blocks down on him.

Ogun is yet another player who has benefited from Jason Taylor and the Dolphin defensive scheme. Example Trace Armstrong, Kenny Mixon, Lo Bromell. Where are these guys now??

Point blank he is simply not worth that much. The market decided he was worth no more than a 2nd round pick. No amount of Drew's BS is going to change WHAT THE MARKET SET.

PS the market also decided he was not worth Winstom money (Chicago's GM)

Mr Fan:

The pick and the money are not independent. The market decided he wasn't worth Wistrom money plus a 1st and a 3rd in the draft. That's a really big price tag.

If Wale gets to the FA market next year, he'll get a Wistrom-like deal.

I'm with the group that believes Ogun benefits from teams worrying about JT. Plus with his contract & bonus demands so high, there is no way the Fins can afford TWO franchise salaried DEs. So I'd get what I could for him now ... preferably a #1 ... especially if he's going to holdout, become a big distraction & be useless to the team on the field for the majority of the season.

You guys made some very good points and Ricks leverage is iffy at best, and has a complex problem. I think Rick played it well though, being tough during the tender signing period and now saying that the "stance" earlier was hypothetical, thus opening the door a bit to offers without recanting his earlier stance. This is the draft to get something in 1 or 2 for him since the draft is deep, so if we didnt get that for him, then I'd play hard ball with him. And yes, Seatle and Philly really hosed up the market for DE's.

That started off as a sarcastic comment by me. I dont think he should play for the league min, but I don't see why he needs the big bucks, just play for a mill or 2 a year. Of course I say this and do not have nfl teams throwing cars full of money at me.
