Listen, to me the best player that is going to fill our needs which is obviously offensive line was Vernon Carey which he will start at Right Guard. I am excited about this pick because we are bringing in a quality lineman/guard who can come in and contribute very quickly. He is from the Miami Area so its exciting for such a star to stay within our organization.

Excellent pick

good pick but gave up too much...all the front office peole should be fired.. we now only have a 3rd rounder, a 6th and 2 7ths... only the 1st and third will make the team,,

not enough said buddy.

Our FO said we were going into this draft, and would draft the BPA...did that happen?

No, instead we reached AGAIN for a guard. A guard that "can also play tackle". Well news flash to the uninformed, but we already have a "guard that can play tackle". His name is St. Clair.

Taking a Guard because he can fill in at tackle if needed isn't a smart move, when we passed up on experienced inexpensive tackles in the FA. Randall wouldn't have cost us a high pick, and there were a slew of other linemen that can play guard as well as well as Carey..heaven forbid they "can't play tackle". Is he REALLY a viable option for an NFL tackle? I'd be surprised if he is. Like I say, we already have depth wtih versatile linemen, and passed up one hell of a DT for this guy.

I'm not agianst having Carey, not at all. But how in the hell can the FO rationalize passing up Wilfork for him? Now NE got the BPA, and we're left filling gaps that we shouldn't have fhad to fill in the first round in the first place. It would have been MUCH smarter to trade down and pick a guard in the 2nd while gaining an extra pick in the 3rd.

Why teh hell did we trade up? I mean, that's a rediculous move. If NE moves ahead, let them take him, we'll ram Wilfork down his throat next year. But so much for that idea.

I'm really tired of the FO pissing on our shoulders and telling me it's raining. BPA my ***.

Phinzone VC was going to be the 19 pick either way
the Pat was ready to trade up and pick VC

and who to say VC was not RS guy for the start
FO did there Homework and i love the pick

Phinzone,

You are my hero for the day for that pissing line. Well said.

The Carey pick instead of BPA was bad enough, but the trade up is what is inexcusable. If it's the worst thing that Spielman does as GM, I'll be happy. It just makes me a lot more fearful for the future than a was a couple of hours ago.

Miami FO must have been asleep at the helm!!! Why trade your fourth to get someone that was going to be there on the very next pick anyways? Stupid move and goes to show inexperience in drafting. If Fins were gonna make a move it should of happened way before the 19th pick. We just gave away a pick, for what!!! I would say you might as well start talking with teams 34 through 40 and trade away the rest of your draft so they can get their pick to fix there MOST important hole. Who knows what their thinking though, they might think their greatest need is at RB position. I'm not counting on too much this year, we STILL dont have a franchise QB.

Miami Beats New England for Carey
April 24th, 2004
According to WQAM, the New England Patriots were offering their 4th round pick to move up to the number 19 slot. They were ready to select Vernon Carey had they moved up. The Miami Dolphins though offered their 4th round pick and the Vikings accepted because it was higher.

I like your guys pick alot.

Carey is a stud. Plain and simple.

No one here knows what these players will do when they get on the field. Did anyone here call the Bolden pick last year like RS did? I think not. Everyone has an opinion, but we will not know what we have in this guy till he puts on the pads. This goes for the rest of the NFL. You do your homework and pick. Thats what RS did now lets see how it turns out before we jump all over it !

Well said. This pick is the very definition of reaching for a need. Rick said we were going BPA, and I have a hard time believing Carey was the BPA. :fire: :fire:

I love how everyone assumes based on partial info that it was horrible. We needed a RG/RT, that had been said ever since we got Boston, we all agreed o-line would be the pick. Philli jumped up because they knew we would take Andrews. Gave up too much? Maybe, but since NE was about to leap frog us for Varey, Rick decided that he wanted Carey. I like the pick, we get a receiver at third round liek a PK SAm, or Devery Henderson we have filled teh biggest needs on teh team. Rick did what he felt he had to after Philli made their move. We have options across the line which was our biggest need. We will get another receiver and there still is June 1 st for depth. relax it was solid move/pick. Ricky will at least be able to get the ball w/o a defender draped to his ankles.

I must be ignorant cause I just don't see it. Is the home page the page with the Latest Message Board Threads? I do not see a New Thread box here.

I also tried the Message Board section. I see a "New Post" button but no "New Thread" button.

Please help.
