I've spoken to a die hard Eagles buddy of mine and he was telling me that A.J. doesn't play as well in practice as he does in real, actual games. So take that with a grain of salt.

He will need to play well in practice or he will need to wait until week 6-7 to get his shot. Typically that's when Jay gets injured. I suppose I would rather have a guy who plays well and pracitces like crap than vice versa.

who knows he could be steve mcnair who never practices and plays great :roflmao:

Based on how little he's played in games, I'm not sure that we can bank on him being a game day player. He's only played in like 5 NFL games, and only against a playoff team once, and he lost that game.

As a coach, I've always refused to tolerate any player that has the "I'm not a practice player" mentality. Especially a QB, as he dictates the tempo of the offense, and is counted on as a leader and timing person. If AJ can't mature past this "not a good practice player", I'd have major concerns about him leading us. Practice is where you show that you have an understanding of timing, scheme, and the players around you.

Off topic, but does anyone else see McNair just falling apart sometime in the next couple years? Is there a body part that he hasn't injured at some point in the last four years? AJ, if you want to take after McNair, take the ability, leave the injury propensity.

We might take it with a grain of salt. Dave Wannstedt, however, probably will not.

well of course he lost. Who can win in a team of one.

Seems he`s practicing well now, according to the Herald, Feeley is throwing the deep ball better than Jay is.

you know it was just one mini camp sheesh

It's more than just one minicamp. It is going to be the constant complaint of all of the people who just can't stand Fiedler if he wins the competition. I don't care if Jay leads us to 15-0 -- there will be Dolphins fans who will be moaning about how Feeley should be starting because he is a gamer.

I guess I kind of agree with DolfanMike. As a player, you have to show the team and the coaches that you can succeed in the playing field, that should start with the practice field.

Is AJF putting a great deal of time and effort in learning the playbook? I don't know, but the coaches should. New system, new players and very little time to learn them, considering other great QBs have held a clipboard for a year or more, before starting.

It's one thing to know the playbook and just concentrate in the practice field. It's another, when you have to do both. We are giving him only, something like 4 months to be ready...

That said, if AFJ does start, we will probably not see the best of him till late in the season...

and mistresses are better in theory then in reality as well....guess we'll have to wait and see what happens...

Delhomme came into a new system and took about 5-6 games to grow into the offense. The same can be said for Hasselbach, except the offenses were much more the same. We have to give both Fiedler and AJ more time this year because even tho the offense is based on NTs offense, the one we ran last year, it is not the same...we have a new coordinator, and several other new offensive coaches, so the offense will change some and both will have to work into it. JF has the edge early on and that is to be expected. The coaches see and tape most of the practices, so they can break down how each player is doing and whether or not he is grasping the system and is athletically better than the other. Give this a little time.....it is only early May...

Not only our playbook, but especially for QB's you have to be able to read the defense in front of you. That read can dictate alot as to where the ball should be going, when, etc. So when a QB isnt performing well in practice it's not real likely he'll look good in a game because he hasnt mastered the reads.
