Would you all sign Gannon if he's released by the Raiders (in their attempt to bring in Collins?).

I'm 50 50 on that question. On the one hand, Marc Trestman knows a good deal about Gannon. He may be ideally suited to run the offense that Trestman, Forester and Sullivan are putting in. On the other hand, he's pretty old as far as the NFL goes.

Would it hurt to bring him in to compete with Jay, AJ and Sage? I can't see how it could.

My personal preference is to bring in Collins, but it looks like he wants to be a Raider anyway. The fact that Turner wants COllins should tell you something about what he thinks of Kerry as a QB.

They are speculating that Gannon could be cut after June 1st and Oakland to sign Collins. A role reversal with Gannon the one out of job. I don't see either going to Miami as anything more than a one year stop gap and we kept Fiedler so I don't see anything happening.

From what I heard (and it really means nothing) Gannon would stay and Collins would be 3rd string, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I think it was on ESPN that I heard that garbage.

NO....I SAY AGAIN...NO...Let the younster develope...Don't bring up this subject again...Just My Opinion....LOL

I'd give him a shot. The guy can scramble somewhat, he may be coming off an injury, but he is still fresh, he didn't play much last year. Plus, he has great targets here. I heard a rumor, that if the demand isn't too high, he would sign for around Vet Min.

I'd take Gannon ANY day over Fiedler...

Gannon is an enigma. Personally, I don't think he is as good as his MVP season, but I don't think is as bad as early in the year last year. Reports say he was injured in the first game against Tennesee last year, and that affected him the rest of his year ( until being put on IR later in the year). If this is true, I would suspect he would look more like the Gannon of two years ago as opposed ot this past year. I wouldn't mind bringing him if it was a west coast offense, but the truth is, the guy can't throw deep, is in his 30's, can scramble, and somewhat of a journeyman qb. Does this ring a bell at all? Because quite frankly, I could have been describing both Gannon and Fiedler. I think the Raiders are stupid to replace him with Collins and it will show if it happens. But I don't think Gannon would be any better a fit for us if he is indeed cut.

You know.

Norv Turner doesn't want him in Oakland because he doesn't want to be handcuffed by a quarterback again. That's why he is pushing for Al Davis to go out and sign Kerry Collins.

Why would some of you want him in Miami, where we are still running Norv's offense? An offense that not even Norv thinks he can run?

Rich Gannon's arm is too limited to be the quarterback in this offense. This is just a desperate attempt for some Dolphins fans to get that big name quarterback, regardless if he can run the system or not. For whatever reason, some of you feel more comfortable with the big name rather than actually having a good player at that position.

100% no. He had to have shoulder surgery & now he can't throw his natural way. He has to throw everything from over the top, no sidearm, something he's not used to.

Unless you want to install an offfense similar to what Oakland was running, Gannon is a worse option than Collins is for this team. I personally think Jay can be just as good in that sort of offense as Gannon can be at his age and coming off of his surgery, so I don't really see that working out.

Another thing you guys need to understand: the team doesn't get more practices with 2 QBs competing for the job than they do with 3 or 4 competing. Adding guys to the competition just reduces the time that the competitors have, which will tend to give Fiedler an advantage because he knows the terminology, the parts of the O that won't be changing, and more of the players than anybody else does.
