Ask Brett Tessler

Hey Brett-

got any guys for this years draft?....What about chase johnson?

I signed a couple new guys this year but Chase Johnson wasn't one of them. I'll let you know more about them as we get closer to the draft.

Hey Brett, great insights, thanks for your time. A - What do think of Cameron? I believe he will help Daunte tremendously in his recovery and getting baqck to his old self mentally. B - My real question - with all reports of how good Jason Garrett is and the apprantly good meeting with he and Cam, why the hesitation in promoting him?

Hey Brett, now that there are two ex-Chargers in the coaching staff, what is the likelihood D-Mac will return?

The common opinion is that it was time to get an offensive-minded head coach, and Cam's resume' is second to none. Sure he had several great players to work with in San Diego, but there's no doubt that his system helped make them who they are. EVERY offensive player on the Dolphins will benefit from his arrival. There will be no more of the boring and predictable run-first crap that we've seen from the last three head coaches. Cam will go after opposing defenses with a balanced, dynamic attack that should bring out the best in guys like Culpepper, Chambers, McMichael, and Brown.

As far as Garrett's concerned, it now looks like he's heading to the Cowboys as either their head coach or coordinator.

I'm optimistic. We'll see what happens in the next month or so with free agency around the bend.

Hey Brett - thanks, as always, for taking the time to answer our questions! Has D-mac had a meeting with coach Cameron yet? If so, has he come back to you with his impressions?

I know that he knew him as a coordinator, but I wonder if he is taking the same approach with his players as a HC.

If they havent met, have you talked to Damian since the hire was made? What were his thoughts on Cam in San Diego?

When D-Mac was at the facility last week, Cam saw him and pulled him into his office where they had a nice, friendly chat. Damion has always liked and respected Coach Cameron, and he's happy to see him here with the Dolphins.

Hey Brett, as an agent do you spend time at the combine? And this may seem like a dumb question, but do you tend to sign rookies alot or do you try to shy away from them?

All agents go to the Combine every year because it's where the manditory NFLPA meeting takes place. I usually sign a handful of rookies each year, but they require a lot of work so I have to make sure that I don't bite off more than I can chew.

Hey Brett,

I appreciate your insights. Nice job in landing D-Mac a contract with KC. I thought he played better here than most thought.

What's your take on the big dollars being thrown at mid level players. Doesn't that cause problems in the locker room. What do you tell one of your guys when they see a guy like Leonard Davis (Considered Lazy) or Ahman Green (Old) getting monopoly money?

Hi Brett...thanks for all the great answers, definitely sounds like you really enjoy what you do! Good for you...my questions:
1. Do you hear alot about agents contacting players when they shouldn't...offering money, etc.? Does it happen alot and media doesn't hear about it?
2. And this is really none of my business....but how do you make your money or rather how does an agent make his money...with high end 1stround picks, mid round, and undrafted guys? Do you take a percentage of what a player signs for? Or can it be, this it what it costs you for me to represent you and we'll try and get as much as we can for you?
3. Do you really think W. Huzienga will really sit down with negotiations to make sure players get signed on time for camp??
4. Any special perks you get as an agent when can be jealous of? lol Superbowl parties? Tickets to games? etc.?

What do you think of the Porter signing in Miami? Was it fair value? The FA market has been insane this year

Being as the huge spending started less than a week ago, you'll see players forcing the issue in the ensuing weeks. Some players will complain loudly and publicly while others will be more low-key. There's no doubt that if a great young player has a couple more years left on a contract that's grossly undervalued, the team would be wise to keep him happy by upping his averages in exchange for getting a few more years added onto the deal. The older players have less leverage because their best days are behind them and teams have less long-term use for them. Remember, teams usually only do the right thing when they have no other choice.

I think the Bills should so exactly this with Aaron Schobel
