Personal Dolphin Experiences

i have met an ex dolphin who i hated to see go. Tommy Hendricks is one of the nicest people i have ever met. I have met a bunch of Jaguars though. I would put some pics on here but i don't know how. I have one of me and T.J Slaugher, Me and Tommy Hendricks, and some pics from the Miami vs Jax game last year.

I live in New Jersey and when I was around 10, 11 years old, my friends father dropped us off at the hotel where the fins were staying before a jets game. They arrived in the bus and immediately went to their rooms. being young kids, noone paid too much attention to us and we could sneak up to their floor(s) (i think it was too). I got to meet a lot of fins...John Offerdahl (Sp), pete stoyanivich, etc....
nicest fin that day..without a doubt Keith Simms
Meanest fin Mark Clayton...we knocked on his door and he flipped the F** out on us. He and his counterpart, Super Duper, had women in tier rooms and were not amused, but duper signed.
Ferrell Edmunds in an elevator wearing a purple velevet suit and matching hat...Tim Mcgyver (d.b., spelling) was also cool as hell..talked to us for a while....
but the most memorable moment was meeting Dan the man. I ran into him in a hallway..he was so cool to me and even signed it To Matt...a day Ill never forget.

in a related note, my friend had a similar experience with Barry Sanders at the same hotel...barry invited them all in and talked to them for over an hour about everything....school fball and the bible...even signed the rookie card John 3:16

Although I didnt meet him I delievered a rug to one of Wayne Huzienga's homes in Linville NC. It was just a few weeks ago. I go to school up here in at Appalachian State in Boone NC and work at a rug company and they ordered a rug which I got to drop off. Both Shula and Bob Griese both have a home in the same subdivision. $$$$$$$$ must be nice.

Met Zach and Jason last year here in Germany when they did their tour...both were very friendly, and first class guys even though they were tired. GOt my Zach shirt signed and Jason signed a photo.

On another note, Terry Bradshaw and Howie came over here and they were real good as well. Howie was quieter, and I got to talk to Terry for a bit...both of them were real good sports and class acts as well.

As a kid, Larry Seiple lived in my townhouse complex and I used to play sandlot ball with his son. Larry was always sleeping or a shadow gliding by at the end of hallways slipping from room to room (I assume avoiding non family).

I chucked a piece of ice at Jason Taylor during warm-ups of the Dolphins-Bills december game last year. I also gave him the finger and he smiled at me.. made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

Your finger or JT?

No pun intended

I've met 3 Dolphins at various points in my life.

Mark Duper (back when he was playing) was a punk. Met him after a practice at St Thomas. He was vulger and disgusting. I lost all respect for him after that.

Tony Nathan. Met him in the parking lot at the NFL experience in Tampa before the Super Bowl up here 2 years ago. We talked about the hook-and-ladder play in the SD playoff game. Dan Marino, Dave Wannstedt, Trace Armstrong and Sam Madison were at the Experience signing autographs, but I don't count that.

Jermaine Haley. Met him at the airport in DC right after he signed with the Skins. He was pretty cool but completely out of shape.

I've also ran into some other guys: Warren Sapp, Dwight Gooden, Gary Shefield, Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini, President Gerald Ford, Heather Locklear, Richie Sambora, Pete Rose and Jerry Springer.

i was sitting at the bar of the boca hotel and resort, back when i used to live in sf, proudly wearing my fin hat. about 20 minutes later the group of gentlemen sitting to my right got up and left.
the bartender then came up to me and said, are you a fins fan, and i replied hell yeah! he said, well you were just sitting next to 6 of the 72' perfect season team!

just my luck

Met Dan twice. !st time was at the infamous Jets game with the fake spike and pass to Ingram. Watched from the press box, As a member of the press(which I am not) you are not supposed to cheer for a team. Well right after that play I let out a big roar and had about 150 press members stare at me. I had an all acess press pass. So I went out on the field after the game. After they interviewed Marino I walked back to the locker room with him. While he showered I talked to a few other players (K.Jackson, O.J. Mcduf, B. Kosar, B Parmalee) When Marino came out of the shower I talked to him at his locker, He posed for a picture with me and signed a football. I also Have the contents that were remaining in his locker. Wrist bands, tape he used to tape up, and some other odd items.
2nd time I met him was at the Cadillac Pro Am at the Upper Montclaire Country Club in N.J. I was with my friend with press passes again, we found out the players were staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Parsipany, NJ. We waited for Marino there and he was Kind enough to pose for a picture and I got another ball signed by him. I have one personalized and one just a sig. We also attended the post round dinner, where we spent time with Dan, John Elway, Tim Brown, etc. Too many to name. Had a great time. It's amazing how nice and open for conversation the players are when fans are not around. They're just so relaxed. Thats my brush with a Phin. Not bad eh!

I remember when i was about 10 maybe(my family has had season tickets since the inception of the dolphins) and my dad signed me out of school early to go to a practice at that crappy field at st thomas... that day i was about 3feet from dan marino and i asked him for an autograph(a 10 yr old girl in pig tails) and he said "no", spit out some water and kept walking... But years later, my dad got some tickets from joe rose to be on the "dan marino show" and dan was great about signing things, he gave us a hat and he signed a ball and a jersey...

And i have line danced with ZT and JT at Davie Junction....they used to hang out there before they had wives and girlfriends.. in fact it was when zach broke his foot - he had a cast on but was still dancing... i believe larry izzo was there too but he didnt dance nor did olindo mare.. :cooldude:
