if the play calling hadn't become conservative we'd have scored 40.

Both Dave and Norv said that if anything they opened up the O more in the second half. The interception, penalties, missed FG, and the "way the ball bounced" were the reasons for not scoring.

Jay had one bad throw in the whole game, unfortunately it was a pick. Jay has been playing the way that he should be playing and if he continues this we will be going to the Super Bowl.

Tired of Fiedler = Dilfer Crap.

I am tired of the Dilfer/Fiedler comparision. Although for some stretch of time one's figures might match the other's but to me there are 2 key differences.

1.) Fiedler is much smarter, he has above average intelligence. Dilfer, although I'm not gonna call him stupid but he is not in the same intellectual league as Fiedler.

2.) Fiedler is much more capable of standing in the face of advertsity when things don't go according to plan. Fiedler could be injured, sacked 5 times, thrown 2 pics, and be down by 14 points yet still have the Grit and Gumption to lead the team from behind to win. Dilfer on the other hand, from the games I've witnessed, if the gameplan isn't working and the going gets rough, Dilfer more times than not basically falls apart.

Fielder's ears may be bigger than most others people but his brain and heart are bigger still. So when you compare Fielder to Dilfer it really comes down to this:

Grit and Grey Matter....
Fielder has it and Dilfer doesn't.

1.) Dartmouth plus engineering degree may mean Jay is smarter but doesn't help him to read defenses, go through progressions, or decide to throw/dump/go down.

2.) "Fiedler is much more capable of standing in the face of advertsity when things don't go according to plan" sounds very subjective and until yesterday, Dilfer had won his last 15 games in a row so he couldn't have "fallen apart" too much!

When it comes to grit - yes Jay has it - but Dilfer does too and comparing Jay to Dilfer is not a slight on Jay but rather a statement that there are similarities to their capabilities and the situations that they are/have been in.

Now....if we could just graft Dilfer's arm onto Jay........

Yes it does, recognizing defenses, going through progressions and good decisions all come in part from studying game tapes and learing from game experience and in practice.

I watched Dilfer for years in Tampa, unless the gameplan is working he has no clue.

To me comparing Fiedler to Dilfer IS A SLIGHT. One is the QB for the miami dolphins and the other is mildly retarded.

It must be hard...

... being as perfect as you appear to want everyone to think you are!

Feidler is still average. Turner makes him look beter than he really is. Marino said it himself, Fiedler is not the one to take the Fins all the way.

Re: Re: Re: Tired of Fiedler = Diler Crap.

There's a world of difference between academia and making split second decisions on game day. Jay has improved in this area, and will hopefully continue to improve. My only real knock on Jay was the bad decisions he made his first two years, but he's shown great improvements since the middle of last season. By no means however can you call a Dilfer/Fiedler comparison a slight however. When Fiedler was brought in it was with the EXPRESS purpose of being a "don't lose the game" QB, which is EXACTLY what Dilfer is/was. Make some plays when it counts, but don't expect the guy to win every game for you.
