Cutler agrees to sign for fins

Talk about having the excitement and enthusiasm for a brand new season taken from you. I have no interest in watching a Jay Cutler led offense.

Don't get me wrong, I am and always will be a Miami Dolphins fan. If the team does well with Cutler under center, I'll be happy for them. But I just can't get excited about it. I dislike Jay Cutler's game THAT much. I'm not sure there's a player out there that I was would have less excitement for. He's just an awful, awful QB and not a personality I can root for. If he was any good, he would have had a job already rather than as an announcer. But nobody wanted him.

But now, Gase apparently wants him because he's 'familiar' with him. So freaking what? I don't get that. He coached him for ONE freaking season and that makes him a more attractive option?? When Gase first landed in Chicago, he certainly wasn't familiar with him. So why couldn't he have gone with an unfamiliar QB again? And a better one at that. Anyone saying that Gase must believe he's the best option is missing the point, IMO. This is NFL nepotism at it's finest. I'm not a Colin Kaepernick fan, but he's a better QB that Jay Cutler by far, even if not a 'system' fit. Hell, Matt Moore is a better QB than Jay Cutler -- which is exactly why Matt still had a job and Cutler did not.

I'd much rather have seen the Dolphins find a capable and experienced BACKUP QB to Matt Moore than this. You don't pay someone 10M + incentives unless you plan on them being the starter. Cutler is not a starting QB. Everyone has seen that movie already.

This move absolutely sucks.

I was right there with you. I seriously considered just not watching at all this year but since I figured out a nagging injury is going to keep me relatively immobile for some time it would be absolutely silly for me to not watch just because I hate Cutler. I'm too intrigued on seeing how Ajayi, Landry, and all the other Dolphins I've been rooting for will do.

And now (well, after week 1 if he's still here) the wait/watch begins as to how we plan to recoup savings via cuts, trades, restructures, etc........This is an expensive & bad move by a panicked FO .
What does that even mean? Panicked? What were they supposed to do wait until 1st or 2nd round of cuts for another Doughty to fall from the tree? Give me a break.

This was a mistake. You don't go into a season with a starting QB who didn't get surgery, a back up who you don't believe in...and scraps.

Ryan gets hurt, the Dolphins show their hand.

At least our team aside from the QB looks alright.

Moore, Cutler....it really doesnt matter anymore at that position. The team made their bed

Everyone wondered why Vegas had Miami at 7.5 wins??

They didn't believe in tannehill.......and I suspect not because of past history but because he was indeed a ticking time bomb.

And I was worried about jay ajayi. The Dolphins really messed this up

In Gase we trust.

"We will rally around K̶u̶r̶t̶ ̶W̶a̶r̶n̶e̶r̶ Jay Cutler and we will play good football."

Still complaining and have no other viable option. Who is the younger player with upside and trade ability on August 6th?

You're not seeing the whole picture or at least here you're trying to paint a prettier one for yourself.

The coaching staff and FO doesn't get a pass from me for:

1) paying Moore whom they do not even consider a viable option to take over the starting spot,

2) knowing that and knowing full well that Tannehill suffered a season ending knee injury and still did not address the back up position with younger talent to develop in case there were setbacks like we now face,

3) now being in panic mode they had to coax a 34 yr old washed up and retired Cutler whose biggest asset is a strong arm but just also spent the rest of last year on IR to get surgery on his throwing shoulder. Not to mention, his offseason training has consisted of not rehabbing his throwing arm but rather "dieting" on beer, chix wings, and nachos to sit in a broadcasting booth.

But nepotism; cool story.

And that whole feel good story about Cutler having his best year under Gase b/c most people only stare at box scores and statistics . . .

13 years ago i said if we could somehow draft Cutler he'd get us to the promised land because I saw insane talent. At the time we had no shot at drafting him. Maybe this is fate. I gotta believe. Let the games begin..............

I see this move as someone capable backing up Matt Moore.
There is no way Cutler will be ready to start the season. If Moore plays well, and the team wins, Cutler will never see the field.
If Moore struggles after several games, I would no problem with Cutler coming in at that point.
I want to win with RT. That will not happen.
Time to face reality.
It is a team sport, and some players become endeared to the fans.
RT was playing great ball before Campbells cheap shot. Now he is gone for a year.
The team keeps marching on.
I want the team to win for Wake and Jones.
Lots of players have pride and playing for big contracts next year.
I expect great effort no matter who is the QB.

to just think that a starting caliber QB, with a rifle arm, that isn't old, that already knows Gase's complex offensive system, was just sitting out there available (for no draft pick compensation) is pretty mind-boggling on its own.

Yeah, mind blowing . . .

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will miss the remainder of the 2016 season due to surgery to repair a labrum injury in his [throwing] shoulder.

. . .

The 33-year-old veteran also missed time with a thumb ailment earlier in the season and appeared in just five games. He went 1-4 with 1,059 passing yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Well, one thing they didn't do was go out and sign Scott Mitchell or whoever

Why would he not be ready? He has about the same time as Pennington did to get ready in 2008 and he already has worked with Gase.

If Vegas has a line on Cutler INTs this season around 13, that's a trap.....over all day

Cutler would need practice time to get game ready and get in sync with the players. Moore is already in sync.
Cutler will crap all over the field if they rush him in there.
I dont want to see Cutler the interception machine.

Cutler on Sunday agreed to a one-year deal worth $10 million plus incentives, per a league source. As $5 million of that is base salary, it strongly suggests the Dolphins expect him to be the starter ahead of Matt Moore.

Only place we see 5 base so far.

The original post should be updated with this info. Or, at least add this into the post in the Breaking News post if there is one.
