*Suh to be released* From Suhs mouth. Stay tuned - Update: will be released

If you cut Suh, you take your lumps now and save only the 4M. Saving 17M in June does nothing for this team and would be the next in a long line of mismanagement that this team has been known for since Tannenbaum took over.

This is unbelievable. I honest-to-god can’t believe what has been happening this offseason. And the off-season doesn’t even officially start for another 3 days.

Culture change I can get behind, but Suh always seemed like he gave 100% every down, and worked to improve himself off the field. How is that bad for culture? Or is he a bit too vocal for Gase? Did he hurt Gase's feelings once?!

I htought the reason for bringing in Kocurek was because of the Suh connection.

Just because someone is reporting that this is for *culture* changes doesn't make it so. More likely, they asked Suh to restructure and he wanted too much for the privilege. Say what you will about how is on the field, he's always been really smart about the business side getting the most money every step of the way.

Suh would cost 26 million to play out the year. We're eating 22 million in dead cap to cut him now and most of it is coming out of next year's salary cap. We don't save jack ****. Plus we still have to pay his replacement.

His replacement is already on the roster in Phillips, Taylor, and Gaud. They're not Suh talent wise but will do for now. Maybe Miami adds another DT on day 2 or 3 of the draft.

The picture is becoming very clear on why John Elway thought very little of Gase.

Because of Tannenbaum? These roster changes/purges are clearly made by all three, but at the end of the day, Gase is just 1 vote of 3.

Releasing him now (as a pre June 1st designation) only gives them an extra 3,9 million of cap space. Yeah well worth losing one of the best players on your team, lol. Post June 1st cut you won't be able to use 13 of that 17 million until after June 1st when all the top free agents have already sign. Stupid move releasing Suh either way.

Do they have to keep money to sign draft picks? How much money do they usually save to sign draft picks? Do we want to roll any cap money into the next year? What date do we usually begin negotiations with draft picks?

Suh costs way too much money for a guy that takes a lot of plays off. He can be an absolute beast when he wants to but that's only like half the time.

I would've kept him another season, I get why they did it but I am not a huge fan the decision.

Miami has to be thinking longer term. They probably are going to carry cap space into 2019 and get rid of more big salaries like Pouncey, etc. Watch what they do at the QB position this spring. If they draft a rookie QB in round 1 Miami is building for the future. If they draft a rookie QB on day 2 or 3 ... or sign a vet backup ... then they are trying to rebuild short term. Gase is a QB guy so his vision for the team will center around that position.

They could free up enough money to sign draft picks by cutting Thomas and Timmons. They can sign draft picks right after the draft in April. Sure they can roll over the 3.9 million they save by cutting Suh before June 1st, but IMO he is much more valuable on the field than anyone they can sign with that 3.9 million. They are already projected to be over 40 million under the cap next season without any cuts.

I agree, Gase seems determined to rid himself of free lancing and me type players. This had to happen, just thought Suh would be next year.

If you’re thinking long term, eating 19M in dead cap next year makes even less sense.

Coaches practically begged Suh to be a leader on the D-Line, however that isn't who he is. He is an elite talent but a loaner- a mercenary.

The money stings this year or next. Miami is just getting a start now. Gase is moving people now that he doesn't want long term ... even this season. He's a fan of Pouncey so don't expect him to go until next season. Gase wasn't a fan of Suh's freelancing so he goes now instead of next season. They are attempting to put together pieces. Just watch what happens at the QB position. As big as it is to lose Landry and Suh, all non QB moves for Gase is noise. Watch the QB position.
