Miami Dolphins: Is Starting Cornerback Role Cordrea Tankersley’s To Lose?

Lippette his first time around at DB positioned played well. At the very least, he knew how to locate the ball.

The job is definitely Tank's ... for now.

In the NFL, if there are two good young CB prospects, and one has 3 shakey games ... most coaches pull him and put in the other guy.

Tankersley has more athletic ability and will be given every opportunity to win the spot unless he is awful.

Lippett's injury undercuts the staff's trust in him, and he is slow and not quick. Lippett would have to ball out AND Tankersley show very poorly for Lippett to start over a healthy Tankersley on opening day.

But by game 3, a re-evaluation will be in full swing.

You make it sound like Tank was all-world when he played. Please, he stunk it up more times than not and Lippett for his limited experience made plays. How many plays did Tank make all season?

Tankersley had some real solid moments last year, but mental lapses killed us. Generally speaking if there was a breakdown in the secondary you could look at him as the culprit. He probably was one of the major reasons that Lou Anarumo lost his job.

Doesn't this depends on which side Lippett plays best since has played on both right and left corner. All four of Lippett's interception in 2016 came from him playing RCB.

Not to mention Lippette has a natural knack for locating and playing the ball. Tank on too many occasions didn't turn his head, panicked then played the opponent and not the ball yielding PI calls etc. I'm sure he can learn to be better. But give me the guy with a knack for it anytime.

I'll be honest with you. I don't see Tank developing as well as X or Lippette going forward. He just seems like one of those guys that will never be able to put it all together.

Hope I'm wrong.

Tank only had one PI called against him and that was in the last game of the season.

People doubted him at Clemson too.

Then he was the #1 corner on in a championship defense.

Can't have enough quality corners, wouldn't mind having a nice rotation between lippet Howard and tank. Play the match ups

Lippett is a matchup corner nothing wrong with that he will get plenty of run

Oh, I'm sorry I forgot that means guaranteed superstar at the NFL level. Where are my manners?

Ya nobody cared about his PI at Clemson because he had a stupid low catch rate against. He can become a shutdown no doubt but the way he plays we will have to eat some PI every now and then. Worth it imo. Plus I like pie.
