Jarvis Landry Thinks He’s The Best Receiver In The Nfl

nothing new, he said that when he was in Miami, I remember some of the main sports brodcasters (cant remember for which broadcast) were joking him about saying it. I expect his receptions to go down but his yards to be about the same in Cleveland. I think he'll get more chances to catch deeper balls instead of the short passes like in Mia. hopefully they are not going to pay him that much to have him catch balls within 5 yards. I honestly do think he can be a mid range threat cause of his quickness, If he could've comprehended the playbook a little more in Mia I think you would've seen him get more passes well past the LOS. This will be the season that we really know where Jarvis is to rank amongst the top WR. I doubt Cleveland has a complex Offense, just run the route, no adjustments to the route on the fly. So Jarvis you got your money, now its time for you to put up or shut up.

I would think Cleveland and most NFL teams require receivers to read coverage and make adjustments to routes these days. That's why I shake my head when people think a receiver simply ran the wrong route, sometimes it's more of a case of the receiver and the qb seeing the coverage differently and not being on the same page. The days of simply running a 10 yard curl route on a play seems to be in the past.

oh yeah standard reads yes of course, that's where the commentary "the qb and wr were not on the same page comes from" that's a given. but that is more of a one step adjustment (okay he presses I duck inside, he drops back into zone I go outside). what I was thinking from discussion of past of Gase's offense is that you have to make adjustments at the line for the type of defense and the coverage they line up in and that everyone has to be on the same page. Im sure Jarvis could handle the let me go inside/ let me go outside aspect of it. its more we're going to run this play, if they line up with the backer moved out to slot then Y is going to go fly and Z is going to run 5 yard in, if backer is out and they are lined up in Dime instead of Nick then fly will run post, z will bubble, If Dime with Backer and press then instead of fly then its out pass, if you get my drift. the first line where yeah we're not going to just say run a curl for the most part has been gone for years. heck back in the 90's in HS there were teams we game planned against where the WR and QB were told if he plays off, hot pass, if he plays tight burn his ass. that's basic understanding by a WR, Jarvis knows that. I think Jarvis can excel in that, this way or that way. only problem is, with my 3 sentence scenario if only one person on the offense isn't doing there job then it throws the other WR's routes off too. they line up in Cover 2, Jarvis runs a 7 out instead of recognizing the cover 2 and stills runs a 10 yd curl on same time, you have two guys in the same spot in the zone playing pattycake.

Honestly guys, it's one thing to have an alpha type personality as a player, even a confidence in one's abilities, but he just comes across as an ass.

He's not even the best WR in his division maybe even team.

As far as talent and natural abilities, Josh Gordon is absolutely a better WR and one of the best receivers in the NFL. We've seen enough of him to know that.

His issues are off the field.

As far as Landry, not surprising to hear him say that. Consistent with his mindset. I hope he does well in Clevland but I don't want to keep hearing about him personally.

Has there ever been a best receiver in the league having to overcome the physical limitations that Landry has? The only one I can think of is Welker but then you wouldn't have him as best in the league. Antonio Brown mightn't be the biggest but his route running and speed are far superior to Landry's.
