Perkins: Tannehill Seems Poised To Return To 2016 Levels

I think the offense will be fine with a pedestrian RT. There is enough speed and scheme to score points.
Im more worried about the defense getting off the field against running teams.
And our place kicker. Close games can be decided on a single kick.

300 yards passing week 1. Multiple touchdown strikes. He is going to be locked in from the jump.
I would love to see him have an all pro type season. I even think there is a 50/50 shot of it happening.

I believe Tanny used last year, on the sidelines to his advantage. He never had that luxury coming in to the league. Maybe a blessing in disguise?

I think the offense will be up to speed by the 2nd game of the season.

I have heard other QB's say that coming back to their position after an injury, it was the first big hit they took in their first game back that clarified to them if they were really ready or not. I'm sure that Tannehill will not pay that first hit much attention at all. He has always shown toughness. He is recovering from an injury that most player recover from. He has always had a fire is inside of himself and that fire was used to focus on football and his recovery program last year. According to Gase, the game has slowed down for him. He recognizes what is in front of him and adjusts to it quickly.

It appears that the players for our offensive line have been identified, are in place and will be practicing together for the rest of the preseason. We should know after the 1st game if they are going to be better than before or not.

I see the defense taking a little longer, but it takes every teams defense a little longer since most teams offensive schemes aren't well documented until after the first 5 or 6 games of a new season have been played.

The real magic will appear as our offense begins to extend itself through the play book. I see our current offense as fast at most positions and anticipate fast play calling to help take advantage of all our speed. I believe our running game will be as strong as our passing game, and that the running game will be a mask for an extended passing attack.

When we, the fans, can't predict if our offensive lineup indicates a run or a pass then the offense has done its job.

When we see opponents defenses that are tired and confused, we will know that the offense has done its job.

When our defense is always attacking and not winded at the end of the game, we will know that our offense has done its job.

When we score more points than the other team we will know that this team has done its job.

I think all the above will be evident by our second game and become even more formidable as the season progresses, other teams offensives get defined and our playbook expands to allow us to address our opponents new offensive schemes.

If the OL is as fans suspect = Tannehill has more time (passing game) and Drake has more holes (run game). And it helps the D

I think people are forgetting the run options we have with our backs. We have the option of leaning on them until Tannehill is up to speed

We would be legitimate superbowl contenders with stats like those but I think we have hit the inevitable point in the offseason where everyone is drinking the kool aid.

Injury prevention will be the key to our success.

Injuries to key players are the Achilles heel (no pun intended) of every team.
IMO, it depends a lot on how many young guys play near potential.

You are right. Don't forget that among the coaching changes made we replaced the Head Athletic Trainer and the Sports Science Manager. We also eliminated the Team Nutritionist position and the Assistant Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist position.

I don't know if those eliminated positions are covered by other existing positions or not, but I do know that changing personnel in the Head Athletic Trainer and the Sports Science Manager should have some effect on preventing injuries. Clearly, this has been a concern of Gase and he has taken some reasonable actions to make improvements.

To answer the thread title: Well hopefully he plays better than that. During "the streak" he ranked middle of the pack or worse, so yea hopefully he can play better than that. But hey, he will have a ton of excuses. All I have to say is 5 years with no playing time, and 34 points.

Biggest thing he is going to have to overcome is the jitters of people flying around his knee. It doesn't matter what you say about an injury but deep down in the back of your mind you know until that fist hit and you pop back up with no ill effect..........it's all talk.
