Nfl Network Analysts Give Their Thoughts About Dolphins Qb Ryan Tannehill

RT is miles ahead of Jay, at any stage of the respective careers. Injuries aside, RT is a franchise QB. Wether he gets us to a SB is too be seen, but if he doesn't, that doesn't stop him from being a franchise QB. Luck won't make a SB imo, because it's a team sport, and his team is way below average. RT will be here for the next 5 years IMO, unless he tears his knee up again and is forced to give the game away.

People who say RT IS a Franchise QB ARE delusional. He hasn’t done enough to deserve it.

What’s a franchise QB even look like? Let’s start there...Luck was labeled one because of his pedigree, college experience, production, film, smarts, and so on. RT wasn’t that coming out. The Manning bros were and then produced like one. Tom Brady became one. Brees became one. You’re either said to be one coming out of school or you’re not one until you become one in the NFL. Until then RT isn’t a franchise QB. It’s just easier and more safe for an analyst to say he isn’t one then to use foresight to say something like, he will become one because he continues to grow.

I personally don’t think he will become a household name like the ones I mentioned. Still can be above average, make a pro bowl or 2 in his best years, win some playoff games and even a Super Bowl. Do those things and the consideration begins on a national level. Be the league MVP or at least in the running a few times.

Do most of these things consistently over the next 7-10 years and he’ll join the ranks.

Eli has a winning record for his career, and qualified for the post season moultiple Times. When Ryan does either of those things we can look at his 3 point higher rating in 3x less seasons. If you honestly think Ryan is better than a 2x super bowl champion and future HOFer you aren’t worth talking to.

lmao at equating wins to one player. It's the most lazy and overused argument in football for quarterbacks.

The only reason Eli has seemingly good career numbers in terms of yards and TD passes is a product of longevity, not greatness.

Trent Dilfer is a super bowl champion. He's obviously better than Dan Marino.

Who cares? I just care that RT continues to improve this year and become a consistent top ten qb. I'm not going to gauge my opinion of my team by these goofball's thoughts.

I see people mentioning Peyton Manning, Brees, Brady, etc. and trying to say that's the measuring stick for what Tannehill needs to be.

So for Tannehill to be a franchise quarterback he needs to become one of the all-time greats like those three?

Well if that's the case, might as well stop watching football because that's never going to happen.

I will always root for Tannehill, but I doin’t understand the hyper urge to defend the guy either. He really is just an average QB until he has a huge year, gets us into the playoffs and wins some games. Maybe that will be this year, but if not, I would not be one bit surprised if the Fins go QB first round in the draft.

Again, I hope he blows up this year and we return to glory. I enjoy watching a good football team with great QB play.

People want a franchise QB it is that simple. I want one, I hope we get one in next years draft or the draft after that. Nothing wrong with wanting to be great and a franchise QB is the best way to consistently be a factor. I became a Dolphin fan at the very tail end of Bob Griese, but started with Woodley and strock, and then of course Dan Marino. I am not comparing anyone, but after watching Dan Marino's career its hard to watch the lack of competitive spirit and leadership on offense over the years.

Eli was a good regular season comparison bad overall comparison because of his playoff depth. But RT isn’t Matt Ryan or Roethlisberger. He’s not Russel Wilson, Philip Rivers or Cam Newton. I’d call Carson Wentz a Franchise QB before I’d call RT one. Heck, Alex Smith has done more to deserve that label as an MVP candidate most of last season. Although I’m not sure I’d call Smith a Franchise QB yet. He needs to have another great season and win some playoff games. But to my earlier post point, at least he’s in the debate nationally.

Manning didn’t get to be Manning be trying to be Marino, Elway, Montana, or Favre. Brady isn’t Manning either. He is Brady. All that being said, Tannehill just needs to be the best version of Ryan Tannehill. These comparisons are garbage, Imo

The point is they’re Franchise QBs. I’m not sure the best version of RT is a franchise caliber QB. So far, he’s earned the question marks.

Tannehill will not get us anywhere. Just like our past 5 seasons have indicated. Just need to let this season play out with a 6 win maximum so Gase & Tanne can take a hike and we get Harbaugh and his QB. Need a new era.
Harbaugh embarrassed Ross once it’s not happening again.

I don't think the article says that any of them considered Tannehill a bum. One guy used Manning as a reference and the others simply said "no" (paraphrasing it).

I am not sure why people always so overreact when it comes to Tannehill.

What did you expect? Tannehill in the title

It's a balance of nature, really. Oh delusional haters who equate him to Cleo Lemon,

Manning is one of the best qbs in the history of the game. What sense does it make to us him to gauge where a qb that has never made a Pro Bowl is at? My thought is that nobody ever said Tannehill was or would ever be as good as Manning. I think it would be silly to put that on any young qb. But simply because he's not on par with an all time great player doesn't mean he's not very good at that he does. I still say he's on par or ahead of his contempory qbs in the AFC with only 35+ qbs ( Rivers, Brady and Rothlisberger) clearly ahead.
I think you missed my point.

The only question mark there is about Tannehill is health, not ability. I don't know when I've seen a QB put up 27 TD and 12 INT and then be constantly questioned about his ability by a fan base. It's kind of ridiculous.

And while you can look at stat sheet and say "2016 Tannehill didn't throw that many TDs" if you watched him play all season you saw him throwing the ball with conviction and confidence, and making it happen as a player in this offense.
