Josh Gordon

And that’s why they are the Cleveland Browns...
It’s not even the fact that they appear to be fed up with Josh Gordon.. but they are willing to pay Landry crazy money despite his antics but they would rather trade one of the cheaper bargain players?
Despite everything, you could argue that Josh Gordon was one of the few players that the Browns actually got right in recent drafts despite constantly having very high draft picks. They’ve had some horrible drafts in recent years
I don't know how you can say that they got it right when he can't stay on the field and they feel the situation is do bad they feel they have to trade or cut him. I think anyone would have to concede the organization has been supportive.

Patriots got better, Dolphins got nothing, same old movie same old ending.

Enjoy week 4.

Desperation move by a team that has had almost everything go their way for 17 years but knows that their time is just about up. Josh Gordon is no Randy Moss, this isn't 2007, Brady is no longer 30, the Patriots defense is a shell of what it used to be. Those singing the same old song and dance are about to get the curtain pulled on them. Yes enjoy week 4 and hope you guys enjoyed your time in the sun. That time is coming to an end.

This post is irrelevant now that the Patriots have traded for Josh Gordon. But my post is related to the Dolphins front office strategy.

I have read most of the replies in these two Josh Gordon threads. I may have missed it, but . . . . . . did anyone ask: Why didn't the Dolphins trade a 5th round draft pick to Cleveland for Josh Gordon . . . . . in order to keep the Patriots from trading for him? It would have kept a potential asset from your division rivals. Especially since one of the Patriot's weaknesses this year is wide receiver. It's the kind of strategic move the Patriots are known for making.

I wouldn't have wanted Gordon in the Dolphins locker room or on the Dolphins sideline during games. And I don't know what else the Dolphins would have done with Gordon for the rest of the 2018 season. But it just seems like a 5th round pick isn't much to give up. And Gordon's salary this year is fairly low, right?

Maybe the Dolphins front office considered the idea, but then realized "If the Patriots trade for Gordon, maybe it will cause a little chaos in the Patriot's team chemistry / locker room. If that happens, that's good for the Dolphins . . . . so let's give the Patriots the chance to trade for Gordon."

We have our upcoming wide recovers and a growing culture of winning.

Better then bringing in yet another locker room case, ala too many Dolphins in recent years.

Lets see what they can do against this Pats team.

Hilarious how we have some many “Big No’s” from our fan base but New England is going to swoop right in and take this supposed “cancer” right into their locker room lol
they can have him, i can't wait till he shows up high to a meeting, they love no class players i.e. Hernandezas long as they think he can win a game

Here's the thing with Gordon: He clearly had a relapse at the start of training camp and the NFL basically just looked the other way. I have no other explanation for what happened where he went into rehab or some **** for like two weeks and instead of immediately suspending him for a year, the NFL conveniently just said and did NOTHING.

They want him back on the field. He's a dynamic player that people are interested to see. Gordon is not a violent criminal, he's not hurting anyone but himself, and in general he seems like he is a decent person outside of that very real substance abuse issue. So the NFL, which currently has sagging ratings and a lot of injured stars absolutely wants him back on the field. Unless he gets caught red-handed doing something REALLY stupid, I think Gordon will be able to get by and avoid trouble with the League.

I think you can even make the case -- and many people have -- that taking Gordon away from the structure of football and his job is NOT going to help him with his substance abuse issues. If anything, it may put him right back on the path to depression and abuse. I personally tend to agree with that line of thought, and perhaps someone in New York at the League Office is seeing it that way, too.

So no, I don't like him going to the Patriots.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying Gordon is a 'top three receiver talent' or 'dynamic'. 2013 was five years ago. When he hasn't been suspended since then, he's played in 11 games and caught 43 passes for 655 yards and 2 touchdowns.....on 93 targets. That's really pedestrian. In week one of this season, he got targeted 3 times in the same game that Landry got targeted 15 times.

IMO, the Patriots made a low risk trade....but people are waaayyyyy overestimating his ceiling. I mean, the last time Gordon was on the field for more than 5 games in a year, Pierre Garcon led the league in catches. 5 years is a hell of a long time.
