Week 4 Power Rankings

NFL.com

10

Previous rank: No. 17

The Dolphins have earned this spot, whether you believe in them or not. Ryan Tannehill has played excellent football for three weeks running, highlighted by a 17-of-23 effort with 289 yards and three touchdowns against the Raiders. No picks, either. Don't forget Albert Wilson's turn at quarterback. The defense was as shaky as it's been thus far, but the unit made up for it by creating two turnovers, one of which sealed the win. Concern? Inconsistency in the run game. Miami must be effective on the ground to be more than a wild-card one-and-done.

Elliot Harrison is a tool, but at least he explains the reasoning for his rankings with actual stats not flimsy opinions and gut feelings.

Bleacher Report is going for controversy, it shows in those ranking. Get people talking, Gain more clicks and traffic, more comments on the article, etc. Power Rankings are supposed to be how teams matchup right now. They used the Fins starting out 3-0 in 2013 as a reason to say they won't finish strong. They also use previous seasons as to why the Patriots are ranked #7. Some of these are decent measuring sticks, but I guess BR isn't.

May I cut in?

CBS Sports

Rank #4

They head into New England this week in first place with a chance to take a strong command of the division. Adam Gase has done a heck of a job. Despite what a few so called experts on Finheaven think.

* There’s a chance I added the last sentence on my own...

And if the Dolphins beat NE next week, it will be no different. The story won't be that Miami is 4-0,it will be "what's wrong with the Patriots?" The power rankings will still read "Miami hasn't beaten any team with a winning record."

So, who cares. Just win. That's all that matters.

I predict that after finishing this season with an undefeated record, the press will continue their barrage of "not really being dominant" garbage, while they continue to labor under "a delusion of adequacy" when reporting on football across the league. I'd love to see an independent FAN based forum for rating the media on "their performance"; in order to show, on a continuing basis, the "wisdom" of their "selections".

We could present an award at the end of the season indicating how bad some media operations are based on their "affinity for error", and we can call that award "the BLUE IT" because it is a record of how many times their predictions "blew it" during the season. It would be an empty cone with a large eye on top looking down the sides where a record of all the erroneous NFL predictions that our FAN base found will be "immortalized".

An ACRONYM will be place on the bill. It will read "ESAD", to let them know what their future holds, based on the biological imperatives that this ACRONYM represents, if those types of errors don't get replaced with accurate information during future ramblings. We will send one to each individual and the manager for that publication group.

With my low opinion of the media, I wouldn't be surprised if the recipient thought it was a testament to their "superiority".

Bleacher Report is a total **** show. To follow up on what susser2000 said, they also used our 2002 team as an example of why we aren't good. Power rankings are stupid, but they're clearly supposed to be a week to week thing, based soley on that week's progress, right? Maybe there's some leeway here and there with records.

We beat the Titans, who just beat the Jags, a team a few plays away from the SB last year.

We beat the Jets, who beat the Lions, who just beat the Pats.

And we just overcame a deficit to beat the Raiders.

None of that should even matter, we're 3-0, so we should be top 5 across the board. But I guess they're basing these rankings on 16 year old, 5 year old, 9 month old, 2 week old info. What is the basis? So many of these team rankings totally contradict themselves it's a joke. Yea it gets people talking and clicking, but it also gets me to not visit their site again.

I do agree we don't get any respect but I don't think we should be in top 5. Power rankings aren't just a recap of standings it's just one guys opinion about every team. I'd put us top 10 and if we beat NE in NE and are still ranked outside top 5 then it is completely clear these experts just hate to hate.

there's 8 divisions. Being the best in your division doesn't necessarily mean you're a top 5 team.
