Is Adam Gase our long term answer as Head Coach?

I mean, there are a lot of things I can say to support my “yes” answer, but I’ll leave it to just one thing. He finds ways to win games instead of finding ways to lose them. Of the last 10 games with Tannehill at QB there are what, 9 wins? That could have easily been a much lower total. His leadership made the most out of his team and got the W. What more do you want from a coach?

It sure looks like it! :victory
I'm really excited that Gase has managed to have a good start to his third season as the fins coach.
While I did question Gase last season and predicted that the Dolphins will finish 8 - 8 this season, I couldn't be happier that it seems like I was wrong.
I'm hoping the fins continue to improve under Gase this season and get to the playoffs.
The fins got a good, young coach with Gase!:woot:

Quick reply, apologies in advance of redundancies. Gase was vetted thoroughly. Players and recruits seem to love him. Obviously not afraid to make drastic changes in pursuit of greatness rather than settling for status quo. Refreshing to see that from a young guy. I think the more important question is how do we keep him happy to stay here for the next 20 seasons.

I voted NO.

But, if your go-to play on 3rd and long is a short (or even behind the line of scrimmage) pass, then your punter will get a lot of work and your offense will generally be ineffective. (For example, how many points were scored by Miami in the second half of the Jets game?) And, with Drake and Gore doing pretty good, why would you pass on 3rd and short? IMO, Gase's stubborn refusal to build a team with the ability to have a dominating running game (and using it) will be his downfall.

The only way I'd want to keep Gase is if he completely changes his offensive philosophy and has someone else call the plays!

1. Come on man. You actually believe those check downs are the first option or even the second? Almost all are check-downs. In order to check down you have to have something to check down from, for example the first option.

2. Bringing in Gore doesn't show you Gase's desire to have a dominating run game.

3. He got hired based on his offense philosophy. He might adjust it slightly over time, but don't hold your breath on an overhaul...

I can't remember which poster said this in another thread:

Give Gase a talented roster, and he'll win a SB here. Or don't and he'll go win one somewhere else.

All those complaining about the play calling. What games are you watching? The Fins have been scoring quickly from all over the field.

my litmus for Gase is the dumbest there could be

he has turned Mike Florio into a total believer

I believe Florio's hatred(which I understand) came from the Sparano/Harbaugh debacle

but now he is always pro-fin. I believe he picked us to win every game this year. A year
where every so called expert source considered us a bottom tier team.

as a 3YPC listener I know credit goes to the FO for getting on the same page as Gase. the 3YPC
guys were very high on this team and they know their ****. National media only saw that we lost Landry and Suh and **** on us.

Funny thing is we are now a little overrated, but so are the Patriots. we can't compete with a roster
like the Rams yet, but we soon could. the chaff is being separated from the wheat in real time!!!

Miami's offense is terrible at converting 3rd downs. So, if Gase calls a 2 yard pass on 3rd and long that means the problem is Gase's playcalling. But, if Tannehill checks down to that 2 yard pass because it's the best (or only) option, then Gase's entire offense stinks! IMO, he's good at coming up with trick plays but has no idea how to run an effective "normal" offense. BTW: would someone please tell Gase that you're supposed to move the ball and try to score at the beginning of the game... you don't have to wait until half-time!

You tell him.

Pat White. Florio is from WV and a huge Mountaineer fan. He actually posted about Pat White before the draft, after Miami drafted him, and multiple times when Pat White was still on the team. He even fessed up to owning a Dolphins Pat White jersey. He absolutely hated the Dolphins for Pat White being a bust + how the team handled him.

I know this because I used to pay attention to PFT until they went over to NBC and got a little more, ahem, editorial on certain subjects. And less editorial on other subjects.
