The Drake Dillemma

I like Kenyan Drake and I want to see him succeed but let's visit some of why he isn't getting the touches everyone is screaming for.

Pass blocking - One whiff does not define his ability in this area but it has to improve. If he's going to be back there, he has to be reliable enough to trust in pressure pick ups.

Ball handling - We saw him fumble a couple weeks ago. We've seen other fumbles as well. He needs to secure the ball better.

Game management - Something that irks me is when Miami is trying to run out the clock, he will inexplicably run out of bounds. He's done that at least 3 times. That's not okay. His awareness needs to pick up in this area. Things like that will lose you close ball games.

In short, I think these are some of the things keeping him from seeing more playing time, even as explosive as he can be.

Having said that, I want to see more of him and Gore in the backfield at the same time. Gore can be FB with Drake running or Gore with the pass pro and Drake in the flats/circle/flare routes for reliable movement of the ball.

Thanks for you time, off to work I go, for I owe, I owe.
Really good points. Drake has so much ability and I agree I want to see him get more touches.

Lets face it people. At this point, Gore is our best player on offense which is not a good thing.

I get the sarcasm here (I think), but Frank Gore has ONE touchdown on 111 touches this season.

Drake has FIVE touchdowns on 104 touches.

I’m pretty sure the object of the game is to score touchdowns. But then again, Adam Gase is smarter than all of us, so he might know something we don’t.

Drake needs more touches, I think we all agree.

Why won't Miami go with the old pro set and let Drake swing out in the passing game every once in awhile?

Gase needs to become more creative without all these bullshit trick plays that work every once in awhile.

A team must have some reliable bread n butter plays to lean on in tough situations.

Drake has to be a part of that, regardless of his possible shortcomings.

A while back Gase said Gore gets better with more touches as the game goes along while Drake is historically used coming off the bench with few touches.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just what Gase's philosophy is.

My take is that Drake is excellent at pass blocking for a RB. I've noted that multiple times watching him. I think the missed block was an anomaly.

I think that Gase is desperate to avoid negative plays. Gore's style of running will rarely get us negative plays. Great vision, decisive running and excellent power and body lean means that we'll see at least 2nd and 7 a lot more than 2nd and 11. Having said that i think we need to get Drake more touches as he is so explosive.
I absolutely think this is the case.

I think your right about Gase's mindset on using Gore more. Avoiding negative plays is the best way to help Osweiler be as successful as possible.

And for Drake's missed block......I believe he slipped on the play as he was planting his foot to engage the block and the defender just blew by him. At least it appeared that way on the replay to me....

the answer is simple, besides the fact Drake cant block: hes not good on that 3 yard play over tackle. gore is better at the 3 yard run.
and......that play is run 15-20 times per game in Gases offense.
Don't get me wrong, I really like drake and want to c him get more opportunities but when u completely whiff on a block like he did last night, not the first time this season, what kinda message would that send to anyone else on the team if despite that Gase ma

Gase made sure Drake got 10-15 carries and or 5-10 targets but also almost got BO, Tanny, Super Joe, Record Dan or GOAT Brady killed. You have to do the basics FIRST.

Gase has no idea what he's doing with an offense. He doesn't use many players to their ability in fact I can't name one. on second thought I like the way you use Albert Wilson but I

I'm not sure that is our focus as shown by our lack of production at scoring tds

I mean yall do realize that they have a very close number of touches on the season right? He uses Drake as more of the recieving back and Gore as the pounding in the middle back...I could see if the numbers were horribly skewed but there arent....Gore has a total of 8 more touches than Drake...that's it...8 more touches....

Gore has 506 yards and one touchdown on his touches.

Drake has 572 yards and five touchdowns on his touches.

Doesn’t matter to Adam Gase.
