Gase/ Reporters Comments Etc - The Monday After

The best option to get a QB was 2017. We could have traded up for a lot less than KC to get Mahomes. I think even some people here mentioned Mahomes and that we should move up in the draft. It was the offseason right after Ryan got hurt. You get Mahomes and let him sit for a year behind Cutler. After Tannehill got hurt this year our QB would be Mahomes and not Osweiler.

Picking up Mahomes was a no-loss-and-only-win action. If Tannehill would have turned into a franchise QB (what most of us understand under franchise QB) you trade Mahomes. In a league with the need for great QBs we would have gotten back what we invested in the trade up and more. If Tannehill would have been Tannehill you make the switch after this season. Or in our case after Tannehill's injury you start Mahomes.

Bottomline is when you have a chance to get a guy like Mahomes you make the move.

Last year's draft was a mixed mess. Outside of Mayfield I did not see a QB worth trading up for and the #1 spot was never in the field of play. Browns would have never traded that spot away.
The Darnolds, Rosens and Allens will become average QBs, maybe slightly above average but no game changers or franchise changers. We already have that on our roster: the run of the mill QB.
That's exactly right.
I wish more people would realize this.

I'm not even a diehard Tannehill fan. If we can get Bridgewater this offseason I rather have him than Tannehill.

You have been a Tannehill critic for as long as I can remember and you flip flop consistently based on the outcome of the most recent game of how Tannehill plays. Plays terrible = Brock is a better option. Brock plays terrible = You try to say how you have been saying how Tannehill is a better option or good QB.

My infatuation is how you can give Brock credit for anything this season.

This is absolutely inaccurate LOL

Please don’t confuse me being a critic vs. me not being a “nut hugger” of Ryan. Just keep in mind those wars I was in from say the end of 2013 through the first 5 games of 2016 were about his inconsistencies vs. people making every excuse in the book for why we weren’t where we needed to be and how it just wasn’t fair to place any accountability on Ryan Tannehill. It was about me disagreeing with the idea that he is some top 10 QB while people keep shoving down your throat their agenda about him.

And no **** I am a Dolphins fan. If he plays well and they win, I am not gonna sit up here and bash him to keep up some agenda that I don’t have. That is something the hard core Tannehill likers and dislikers do . . . .I am not that.

But I legit saw Ryan make his first big strides in Game 6 of 2016 and I really went out my way to praise him in the recap threads. This man had 0 touchdowns and Ajayi had 200 yards rushing . . . But he managed the game and the pocket so well behind center, it was unlike anything I ever saw from him.

The next game vs. the Bills I created this thread:

https://finheaven.com/threads/the-p...iggest-detractors-step-back-and-smile.335371/

A few weeks later after the Chargers game I created this one:

https://finheaven.com/threads/the-c...-becoming-less-curious-more-respected.335901/

Then after the Rams game:

https://finheaven.com/threads/down-...-breath-we-are-going-to-win-this-game.336208/

This is not “flip flopping” on him based on how he plays during his tenure. This is giving him legit props for his play during that 8 game stretch.

But then if Matt Moore comes in and leads the offense to 34 points on the road in December twice in the division and you give him props it becomes “Oh Ryan would of done this and that and yadda yadda yadda”.

That is the BS I cannot stand. So if I am positive after another QB not named Ryan Tannehill drops a 30 burger and gets us a big win . . .it makes me some villain because I didn’t analyze every throw Ryan would of so called made and apparantely would of gotten us 40 LOL

You tape guys live on the film, I live in the standings and on the scoreboard. The needle hasn’t moved enough in either direction . . . No matter who the QB is.

I am fed up with the organization not doing anything at QB after two seasons the guy landed on IR and I am not sure his mental state, let alone his physical one, will ever be the same.

As for Brock, your refusal to give him any credit for the Bears game is just baffling. He played confident, lead the O to 31 and had a couple big throws in that game, including a huge two point conversion to Stills where he showed grest pocket movement and accuracy and a pretty elite throw.

I was majorly against bringing him here and would of never thought we would be 2-3 under his direction. I am an analytics and numbers guy and I can look the numbers offensively and despite how poor the offense has been under his direction the past few weeks the overall numbers don’t move the needle nearly enough to suggest Ryan Tannehill changes that record.

But then again its not about that for many of you. Y’all are content with what Ryan “would” of done had he been in the game . . . .but when he is in the game the offense is still ranked in the 20’s from a PPG perspective. Sure it looks prettier on tape . . . Who gives a **** if the results are similar.

It is what it is. Its time to cut bait on Ryan and it sucks because he was playing good ball in 2016 . . . But that doesn’t mean he gets a free pass to be depended on until he maybe reverts to form. **** is a joke that people just assume that same guy from 2016 is gonna show up.

Can you read?

I can and the insult as your first line of defense is duly noted. So do you think those teams would be as successful with Tannehill at the helm? KC, LAR? It's not a difficult question and is exactly what was implied.

Some people just can't accept the fact that this team is not good and they're willing to make any excuse for it.

Bottom line is we are a bad team from top to bottom.
I agree with you, we just don't have that many playmakers.

But it's not. That's the point. Only in a few delusional fans minds is the discussion "legit". Stop fooling yourself out of frustration with the circumstances of this team.
Oh...it's legit.

Much more legit than people give it credit for.

Brock Osweiler is what he is. He has the skill set of a backup QB. He is never going to lead us to a Super Bowl. We will never have an entertaining offense with him running the show.

Ryan Tannehill is what he is. He has the skill set of an average to less than average starting QB. He is never going to lead us to a Super Bowl. We will never have an entertaining offense with him running the show.

Until the front office understands both of these facts nothing will be fixed. This front office will never understand these facts.

We will never have a competent front office until we have an owner who cares and has a clue.

We need a new owner.
We need a new front office.
We need a new scouting department.
We need a new head coach.
We need upgrades at the starting and backup QB positions.
We need upgrades at many other positions as well.

If you are a long term fan (been following since 1970), the state of this franchise is pure misery. And it is not going to change any time soon.

I wish they kept a stat for missed wide open WR for big plays. Not sure about Ryan but Brock would be close to 100% missed. Impressive .

Like I said if Moore or Cutler walked through the door tomorrow and Ryan was done I would immediately name either one the starter instantly. Brock is more inaccurate than Gus Frerrotte.

I like the 3ypc guys a lot but it's embarrassing they are pimping these stats. The ask between the 2 QB's seems much different (Brock is 100% not to lose) to me and all of the easy missed throws for big plays is the clincher. In my opinion missing routine big plays is the BIGGEST flaw a QB can have and Brock misses ALL OF THEM.

Best post that I have read in a long time.

Makes absolutely no sense that the 2016 Ryan couldn’t have shown up these last 5 games. None.

If you don’t think I know that you all were part of the 92 percent group after week 5 of 2016 that couldn’t separate qb problem from everything else and if you think os and tanny are close this year in terms of qb execution you still can’t think again.

This stuff is a joke. Why couldn’t the 2016 tanny have shown up? We are leaving plays all over the field. And most of you are talking play calling which is yet another massive whiff.

Get drake more involved they scream. The guy can’t run the ball inside the tackles ask for ****. Getting beaten over the head with frank gore maintaining the sticks and still can’t figure it out.

Yeah I’m not giving 3 ypc a pass on that. They don’t know what they are talking about if they are saying that. Point blank

Yeah I may have jumped the gun. I can tell you Chris and Alf do not agree. That post was from 5 reasons and I saw it retweeted by 3 YPC this morning so I assumed they agreed with it. On the podcast they pretty much said anyone who thinks there is no difference is an idiot. I should have listed first.

Very well said.
It is a zero sum infatuation for them. If you like Ryan you cannot criticize him ever and you must crap on every other QB because anything else is a betrayal to Ryan.
On the other side if you ever criticize Ryan you are the "hater" and if you ever give him credit for anything you flip flop.
The concept of crediting a player for doing something good yet criticizing him if he does something bad is an unknown concept to them.

You do know Mahomes was ranked from 2nd best to 5th? best prospect QB, so a LOT of teams/experts had him rated lower than #10. And KC admitted they 'gambled' on his potential. KC had fewer 'big holes' and could afford to give up multiple picks. Even then, Miami would have been in a bidding war with no guarantee they would have won, and the trade would have been with BUFF, a division rival. Yes, they could have tried to trade before BUFF, but no guarantees there either. NOTE: I'll remind everyone of my prejudice - I HATE trading up.

Miami wasn’t in the qb market in lead up to 2017 draft and had no reason to be.
