Gase/ Reporters Comments Etc - The Monday After

i dont know what game that dude was watching but we were never in the game.

Behind that OL and with Miami's coaches

I take it you've not watched a lot of other teams, OL is an issue throughout the league, has been for a while. Just switch on the Pitt - Carolina game and watch Newton having fun, to see that it is far from Miami centric. Good quarterbacks overcome it, still get the results, they aren't solely defined by being stuck behind a bad oline, at some point the best elevate beyond adversity.

Well, for one, the Eagles won the super bowl with their backup.

Tannehill is an average at best QB. So is Osweiler. There really isn't that big of a difference.

You're comparing apples to oranges with that list. You're implying Tannehill is as good as those QBs which is laughable.

"For one" is right because you are talking exception, not the rule....and NONE of those listed QB's are as good as Tannehill.

Maybe I misread that so I'll ask again. Of those teams you listed, you think their record would be the same with Tannehill as QB? The Chiefs and Rams would still be 9-1 if Tannehill was their QB?

I think there is enough meat on the bone with roster to win 3 or 4 games with this schedule. I don't believe Tannehill is the difference nor Gase but they are tied at the hip as far as I'm concerned. I'll be rooting for them but don't put much stock into their success.

My preference would be to clean house, top to bottom. I keep hearing about how good our drafts have been. IMO, any schlep cold have selected Tunsil and Fitzpatrick, it's not like those were genius decisions, more like obvious. I've seen enough bad contracts and horrible draft picks by this team, they just don't outweigh the very, very few good decisions.

Right on! Peeps need to get in touch with the REALITY of this franchise -- a proven LOSER under Ross.

#1 choice IMO = Ross needs to go.

#2 choice = Ross needs to hire a "brilliant supreme commander" with complete power to build FO, coaching staff, scouting etc.

Come in. Clean house.

Well, the Green Bay Packers are probably going to miss the playoffs with one of the greatest QBs of all time. The New Orleans Saints have missed the playoffs 6 out of 12 times since their future hall-of-game QB is under center.

I agree. The roster, particularly pre-injuries has talent. No team - NOT ONE - has depth talent through out the roster. Gase needs to step up.
No offense, there are a lot of posters who agree with you, but a 'clean house,' 'blow it up and start over,' whatever anyone calls it is NOT happening. No way. DOA. I get the frustration and venting, but that mindset is unrealistic.
Any schlep could have picked Tunsil? You realize how many 'schleps' failed on that decision? 13 teams passed on him. No, not ALL would have picked him, but some would. I'm not defending Miami - they've passed on a number of players I wanted, but passing on talent is common. Miami is in a majority.

I agree . . . to an extent. Even Brady and Brees have struggled behind a decimated OL. Good QBs can overcome SOME injuries, but not a LOT of injuries. Even harder with a bad OC

Good QBs win something at least once in their careers on any level.... wish we had one of those.

In a team oriented sport this is simply not true and our very own Dan Marino is a prime example. Phillip Rivers and Matt Ryan also come to mind for modern day examples.....hell look what poor coaching has done to Aaron Rodgers. The point is, a lot has to go right to win a title and that shouldn't be the measuring stick for a QB.

This organization has a lot more wrong with it than just a QB successor to Marino. Our drafting is a problem, our cap management is a problem, our ability to coach players up into valuable depth is a problem (Rizzi is excluded from this).

I personally hate the idea of a so called football Czar, it's dumb and rarely works. We need to fire Tannenbaum as he is the dude responsible for all these dumb contracts, and give the keys to Gase and Grier for an offseason before making a final decision. I dont want to overhaul everything until we can get out of the Tannehill contract as we simply can't have $26 million in dead money next year (Suh and Tannehill if we post june 1st him). 2020 is the year we should be focusing on a full gut job if necessary.

Marino, Rivers, Matt Ryan... How many division titles have these QBs won? How many playoff games?

now we are counting division titles as winning something......seriously......Rivers is in his 15th season and has only made the playoffs 5 times and is being discussed as a hall of fame candidate. Having an elite QB certainly helps but it takes a lot of things to go right to win.

We are putting way to much of the winning and losing on a QB....it takes a hell of a lot more than a QB.

Yo Czonk -- when you've mismanaged $$ allocation for years and years coupled with "Drafting by Sybil" you're gonna have to pay the price eventually! Let's be REAL. These isn't much, if ANYTHING, we need to preserve about the current ORG to ensure a WINNING program moving forward. If you disagree -- feel free to name the peeps you believe we have in place that are ESSENTIAL!

In my view we have a house of cards -- top to bottom. Not one stands out as exceptional. So ya know what they say -- mediocrity breeds more of the same.

My .02.
