I know you guys have done a great job in breaking down these kids, and I totally respect your general opinions that this is a weak class. However as I keep watching some of the guys coming out, I get more and more excited by the possibility of one of them replacing Ryan Bloody Tannehill and Brock omfg Osweiller.

I watched Haskins this morning and he was not mistake free but accounted for 6 tds and flashed that clear talent on numerous occasions. Flipping between Grier and Lock now, both have really flashed.

Honestly I would be excited if the fins drafted any of the QBS below, and there are some like Finley for example that I have not even looked at.

Minshew
Herbert (assuming he declares)
Haskins (assuming he declares)
Lock
Grier (although arm strength is a concern, still more exciting than another season with the 2 incumbents)
Milton (not seen a lot of him, will confirm my excitement though tonight)

Not all will go in the first, we could get extreme value on some of these kids.

I'm probably over inflating things here but I don't think it's a complete disaster as has been mentioned and I wouldn't blow it off just to hold out for 2020.

You're crazy. Haskins probably goes back. My favorite 2 draft eligible QBs are Ian Book and Shea Patterson but both likely to return to school.

I'm not concerned about Griers arm I think too much is said about it frankly but the player is too much of a risk taker. I'm not much for gun slingers, they don't protect the ball.

My favorite mid round guy is Milton. The kid just wins. You need intangibles

Yeah Milton is pretty awesome like, based on this Cinci game right now, height's gonna kill his draft stock though, which may be a good thing for us, knowing our FO he'll not be on our board :(

If it's not a great quarterback class - it's usually a terrible one. Just the nature of the position.

I know it's not a good class because it's mid November and still can't decide who I like and who I don't. Evaluating this quarterback class is essentially rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I haven't changed my mind about how to proceed with this class. Draft someone Day 3. I think someone with a small chance of eventually developing into a low-end starter or a decent chance of developing into a high-end backup will be there in the 5th-7th. If they're not, see what's left from the UDFA's, but combining how poor the group is with how much Miami needs to add talent at key positions, Day 1 and Day 2 are off the table for me.

It's an incredible DL class, a very good CB class, with a few quality/versatile Safeties, and it looks solid at interior OL. Those should be Miami's priorities.

I think you guys are putting too much into measurables and arm strength and not enough into the intangibles, such as football intelligence and a will to win. If you watched Haskins, Lock, Milton and Minshew on Saturday and were not impressed, I honestly don't know what to tell you. There is enough there for us to take a chance on one of these kids, our #1 guy is Ryan Tannehill, that alone brings down the threshold for what we need to improve, when he's backed up by Brock Osweiller and David Fales, I don't see why you wouldn't throw a pick at one of these guys and hope you strike lucky.

If you're talking about an early pick, it's not just the pick. It's the time to develop, the roster spot, etc.. One week is inconsequential. It's like putting a drop of Cristal in a jug of Wallgreens' champagne. Lock has been erratic for most of his career, and a decent performance vs Tennessee doesn't change that. Haskins has been pretty good all year, but he looks like he'll put up an 8.0 3-cone. Milton does a lot of things well, but aside from having a weak arm and a wonky delivery, he misses more throws than people want to recognize. Minshew does a lot of nice things (good delivery, accurate), but his limitations are apparent, and he just has one year of decent play. 3rd Round? Maaaybe. Day 3? Sure. But, when you draft a QB in the first two rounds, you're bypassing what should be a quality starter, with a high ceiling, and you're also forced to give the guy a legitimate chance to win the starting job. You're talking about a multi-year investment.

I think Haskins is a 1st rounder - but he's going to have to sit for a year. He's not ready to play yet in the NFL. Has to be the right situation.

I think you focus too much on stats and not enough on translatable traits. I also think you don't understand how good of a prospect David Fales was coming out of college. He was my top Senior QB in that draft. Nailing down a starting QB job in the NFL and keeping it is the hardest thing to do in sports.

The cold hard truth is, 90% of these guys are going to be nothing more than an after thought in the NFL. There are significant limitations with all these Seniors. You don't get to play in Mike Leach's offense in the NFL, just ask Luke Falk. I heard he was a 1st round pick for 2 years. I watched him and wondered what in the hell people thought they were looking at...

They were looking at stats.

Sorry but I can’t help to think most of those guys you mentioned will leave this team in mediocre purgatory the same way it’s been with Tannehill.
I sure as hell would’nt reach for a qb in the 1st rd this year.

To take your first point, it's not just one week, look at these guy's season, they are sparkling, Milton, Grier and Minshew will be in the conversation for the Heisman. Tua will win it of course but these guys will be among the favourites to be in the voting. Haskins I agree looks on the slow side and perhaps also slower in mind than what you would like, but there is clear talent there, I'm certain someone will roll the dice on him and take him in the first. If he's available when we pick should we do it ? Yes, I'm giving up a Charles Harris, Dion Jordan, Jared Odrick, Jason Allen ,Ted Ginn or Ryan Tannehill for a chance to change our franchise. Milton is clearly a mid rounder, he'll drop to the 4th or 5th at the very earliest based on his size. If we've not addressed the QB spot at that point, why not take a chance on the kid ? I've seen Lock two times this season against Tenn and Florida and he was far from erratic on both occasions, it looks like he's maturing, Danielson in commentary pointed that out on a number of occasions. He's another one that will go in the first round, look at his career stats, look at the arm talent, he's a clean kid. Again I would be happy if we spent our pick on him. Minshew is a one year wonder, for sure, walk on at Toledo, was benched at ECU, was heading to a coaching job before graduate transfering to WASU, but what he has done is quite incredible, he's had 6 400 yd games, 4375 yards and 36 Tds with only 7 ints. That just can't be ignored. He'll be seen as this year's Baker Mayfield, that'll push his draft stock up, if we could get him in the 3rd that would be amazing value, but that's not going to happen, it'll be 1st or 2nd right now, and again I would pull the trigger in a second.

Anyway take all this with a pinch of salt, I loved the Pat White pick and hated the Tannehill one, so what do I know :p

Maybe, but it's a chance to change things around, the reason Tannehill has killed us is because we've failed to recognise the lack of talent and rewarded his poor to at best mediocre play with ridiculous contracts. I would hope we have learned from that. The options in FA are very underwhemling to the point where most folks on here appear happy to give Tannehill yet another chance next year ! I think that would just further push this franchise back again. I don't get all the "lets hold out for 2020" thinking, first thing is we don't know what will be there then, secondly it seems to be based on Tua being available, but there is a snowball's chance in hell that we'll be in a position to draft him unless they make an effort to tank next year which they will never do. Fromm really doesn't excite me in the slightest, Lawrence has done well this year in a stacked Clemson team as a freshmen, highly recruited of course and likely to be the next great one but he's 2 years away from declaring and who knows what will happen.

I just want some excitement in the positions, these kids have it and they all look like something Tannehill and Brock obviously don't, they look like winners, I personally think that's a huge thing, that seems to be overlooked way too often.

I'm sure you are right I'm no evaluator of talent, but I just want a change and I honestly don't see how any of these kids can not push the QBs we have. It's not just stats though, I've watched a lot of Minshew, 3 or 4 of his games now and each and every time he's lit it up, I get the scheme concerns, he very rarely takes a sack too and often has a lot of time in the pocket, which would suggest his line is dominating and he's benefiting from that.

I just think folks have been a little too quick to write off this class and we are in a desperate situation where some of these guys will look very attractive. Blow a high pick on one, see what you have, if it works out great, if not start again next year. Right now we are going no where with our current QBs and none of the likely available vets will change anything. I would be mildly excited for Bridgewater but if I'm being completely honest he's not that much better than Tannehill.

Well, not only do I think the stats Minshew is putting up can be ignored, they have to be ignored if you're evaluating him as an NFL quarterback.

Luke Falk, Connor Halliday, and every other quarterback that plays in that system going back to Leach's Texas Tech days put up those numbers. He could put you in there Geordie and you'd put up those kind of numbers. It's the system. Not the quarterback. It's not even that hard to understand.

I guarantee you Minshew is not going to be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round. I understand your concern with Miami's quarterback situation, but most of these guys aren't even as good of a prospect coming out as Fales or Osweiler were. Especially among the Senior crop. You may not want to believe it but I'm just trying to help you.

I'll bet high that there's less than 3 quarterbacks in this entire Senior crop capable of beating out David Fales for a roster spot. He'd beat out 90% of em.
