Miami New Times - Tannehill Can't Afford To Lose Another Game

Teddy Bridgewater 2019

Why does everyone on here think Bridgewater is automatically going to be better than RT??? People complain about RT's injuries but they want to replace him with another injury riddled QB.

I do agree he's the best option out there IF we comes cheap, but I don't think he will. I would actually bring him in WITH RT and let them battle out, but I doubt we can afford both.

I love when people that have never once sat in a meeting at the headquarters make statements with certainty about what the organization is thinking and going to decide on a particular situation.

For Ryan's sake i hope he is traded. To a team that will use him right so he can experience success.

Use him right? So thats why Miami has never won with him.

O line play has a direct impact on qb play and win loss record.

Name me a top team record wise right now with bottom 3rd level o line play.

If you can I guarantee that they have a top shelf defense

Seattle’s likely the closest and they aren’t top level record wise and feature the #1 running game and top half of the league at least defense

Why Tannehill only? If it's a fair expectation for him, surely every QB better than he is should go 6-0, right? They are better, their team is better, their OC is better, their HC is better

Because those other QBs have not been meandering in mediocrity since 2012. History means something. Your resume means something.

Look im rooting HARD for Tannehill, but I see things as they are, and if he flops yet again here, why would you keep this going? Even for him it will be better to find a new gig, because his welcome here will be worn out.

I don't believe that kind of statement is fair to Ryan -- although he's making MILLIONS! I don't think even his most loyal cultists believe he's the type of player that can CARRY a team to victory based on his "dominance" on the field. He's a "gamer," and at best the type of dude you can build a complimentary O around. Has Gase done that?
That was my first thought as well. Tannehill could put up a 120 quarterback rating and Miami might not win the rest of their games. I honestly just want to see him play well the rest of the way and stay healthy.

Yeah just grade the qb for the qb ask. That’s all you should be doing.

4-2 and knock 7 million each of the next two seasons and I’m okay with him staying. Draft a qb either way barring some crazy scenario where he wins a playoff game.

well thill17 need some pressure. this is first time in his career but I don't think that it fair but all pressure on thill17. he still need team help him win. dolphins have lot of other issued on this team. what does thill17 have lose. it not like he is going be broke after this yr. he will still be in nfl next yr. dolphins are not going 6-0. maybe 3-3 or 2-4.

Certainly you're not saying other QBs don't need to win because they have a record of winning, right?

The article says Tannehill needs to win the next 6 games which implies he CAN win the next 6. There is no 'he has no chance against NE so he has to win the other 5.'

Thus, if Tannehill CAN win the last 6, it stands to reason other QBs (Rivers, Wentz, Carr, Luck) with better team talent, better OC, better HC, less injuries, CAN win their last 6. There is no 'well, he's won more over time so he can lose 3'

Im absolutely saying that QBs with a proven track record have a cushion that Tannehill doesnt have right now. Hes already been given those chances. If hes not going to show us something special with this opportunity, then I think his tenure here has run its course. A guy in Derek Carr's position could be allowed a another season or two if in the same scenario (Like Tanmehill already has, as he should have)

I said in my OP I dont ecessarily agree he cant afford a single loss, but he cant afford to squander this shot to compete for a playoff spot with mediocre play.

Chowder is on Ds Radio (WQAM) bemoaning poor Tannys fate, the thought he has to face a linebacker. St Tanny shouldnt have to be made to do this be hit!
Oy vey.

He is also very critical of the Ds for not using Geisecki. 'why are we not using him more'? Devante?
lol because its obvious they suck. live and learn Chowder.

My focus isn't Tannehill, or any QB, playing to keep a job. My focus is the expectation ANY QB can win the last 6. What. QB can do that?

OK first lets point out that we agree that the absolutist statement "must win last 6" is going too far. And even securing a playoff spot, which I said I want to see, could be going to far. But what needs to happen is Tannehill take advantage of this opportunity, coming back to the team in a playoff hunt, and show that he's the man that belongs here. You can analyze it to death and say "well this guy's out" and "So and so stubbed his toe again" but dammit - show us you can overcome something! Show us you can get dropped into a playoff run and make an offense start clicking. Sure, if he (edit: the offense) averages 35 points a game and they lose 3 - those are circumstances that would buck this, but as with all gerneral statements, there are ways to pick it apart if you really want to.

He doesn't have to win 6. He does have to get us into the playoffs.
