Support For Coach Gase

About 90% of my criticisms of Adam Gase the head coach would be wiped out if he was just a little bit more aggressive in key situations (such as 4th down late in games when the defense is clearly floundering) and if he dialed up more plays to attack the middle of the field / intermediate pass routes while cutting screen/swing pass calls by about 80%.

And he was 1/2 on those today, so I can't be too unhappy.

I'm gonna give credit to Gase for the way his team fights. We win way more games than we ought to overall based on the roster. I still fault him for not having a better roster and for not developing young players.

That is fair!

i agree we probably have more wins than we should but my problem is with his offensive scheme and not with how hard the players are playing. I gave Gase the benefit of the doubt and reserved judgement thinking his offense was what it was to limit cutlers mistakes and utilizing guys like drake and landry in the quick short passing game was his way of not letting cutler throw his erratic careless deep balls...

but this year we got the same style of offense, even when grant and wilson were healthy we had to rely on gimmick/trick plays to generate any offense...

i think gase is too stubborn to ever be a successful coach. He needs to scrap the wr screen from the playbook altogether, that should be number 1 priority. Hes also bad situationally, with playcalls and in game decision making. Its as if he doesnt know what quarter it is, how much times on the clock, the down and distance or has any clue what the score is.

As long as Gase is too stubborn to change his playcalling from ultra-conservative to moderately aggressive im gonna be too stubborn to change my opinion of him.

For what it's worth I think Gase called pretty much a perfect game on offense today. We were looking for the big play repeatedly today and the Pats backed off a lot, creating a lot of opportunities. Really the only thing that stopped the offense was penalties, the usual pass protection gaffes, and then stupid Kenny Stills.

Winning cures everything. Always has. Until you lose again.

There are a lot of fans that will remain quiet today to hide their otherwise scheduled bashing.

But it is not to say they don't have valid criticisms.

If Gase is to succeed and RT is to win.....

1. Fix the OL
RT has always been a tough SOB. RT has always played very well with adequate protection. OL has been the #1 issue since RT has been here. It is time we fix this problem. Forget the injuries this year; that only covers up bad drafting. We need draft OG and C talent to shield us from injuries.

2. Get an OC
Gase is a HC still learning how to be an OC. The problem is Gase is the HC. He needs to surrender the play calling.

3. Get a DC
We have always been able to manufacture DL, CB and S talent. But we haven't had a good DC in how long? Wannstedt?

Fix these three core issues and this team is a playoff team every day of the week. It is offensive how problems 1 and 3 and persisted through the decades.

The complaints are valid from those who sing the same songs week in and week out. But stop blaming RT. Lay the blame where it needs to go: Ross, Tannenbaum and Gase.

Just freaking fix it. And everything goes away.

I was on the fence aboot Gase but not many coaches would be 7-6 with a shite DC and so many backups on offense. If Vic Fangio was our DC we would be 9-4 maybe

The Indianapolis and Cincinnati losses sting right now.

Common sense would tell me to (if able) trade those two losses for this win. 8-5 is significantly better than 7-6, but I don’t think I would.

I’d rather keep this one and roll the dice on the next three games.

On topic, Gase criticism is still deserved, but I wanted him back all year.

todays game didnt change my opinion of gase, but today showed that we can move the ball when we call plays vertically and not horizontally...3 years of gases horizontal offense doesnt get erased because of a miracle today...

he has to show me alot more to win me back at this point
Agreed. We won in spite of Gase not because of him. He’s still a very bad HC and playcaller who needs to be canned at the end of the year regardless if we miraculously make the playoffs or not, and Burke needs to be canned tomorrow!

i agree, i even said today showed that we CAN move the ball when we go vertical as opposed to horizontal which gase tends to love. Today he did call a better game than usual and i will give him credit for that. But he should see that today we moved the ball well but next week he will prob revert back to wr screen every 3 plays with a draw on any 3rd down.
