Run Defense Better Show Up Sunday

Kiko and McMillan have taken a fair share of criticism for their run defense this year, but I thought they did an excellent job against the Pats. Everything seemed to click. Gap integrity, angles, tackling...it was all solid.

So why now? Why did it take 13 games for them to play like that?

Actually the run defense did well in the Buffalo game EXCEPT the QB runs. I'm curious to see if they didn't run as much before because they were bad at it or they were bad at running because they did do it enough. We have lived through that experience before!

I prefer them handing off to throwing.

If they implement a very heavy run gameplan, I will be pleased.

I am a huge fan of Dalvin (if you cant tell), but he honestly doesnt look all the way back from the injury. Hes a threat but Im not that worried, hes not breaking a lot of tackles right now. As bad as their passing offense looked, those WRs and TE will absolutely obliterate us if X isnt back and we get our usual nonexistant pass rush.

Theilen is going for 200+ yards and at least 2 TDs.
If our pressure up front doesn't show up then we're in deep trouble.

The defense can pin their ears back when rushing Cousins. Cousins is not a QB we have to fear will kill us by rushing. Do a good job and shut down the ground game. Put them in passing situations and turn loose the dogs. Let the chips fall where they fall. I will take that bet.

Cousins has always been very good under pressure....

Well, it was only Raekwon's 13th game of his career, it was only his 13th game playing next to Kiko, it was only Kiko's 13th game next to Raekwon.

Pick one (but it's likely all of the above).

Given that he is 4-24 versus winning teams, I find it difficult to believe he is good versus pressure.
You took this out of context, purposely, I might add...so will I.

Ryan Tannehill is 13-21...and I won't go into detail about the "missing links" that Cousins has and Tannehill doesn't (division title, Pro Bowl, top 100 player), but that doesn't mean he has no pocket
awareness or a good deep ball.

Pressure in the context it was used meant an effective pass rush.

Thanks for sharing. I like the analysis here. Question, have the Dolphins been running a 5 man DLine with 2 LBs in the past? Now that it was brought up here I can't say I remember seeing it. Could this be a big contributor?

They ran it last week vs NE

1) 13-21 is alot better than 4-24... Its not even close...
2) This thread is about the Fins D versus the Vikes O, wtf does Tannehill have to do with the conversation?

1.) It is...but I'd take the division title Cousins has over Tannehill's 9 extra wins. You might not feel that way.

2.) It's called perspective in the sense that a QB with a 4-24 record against teams with winning records could actually be good "under pressure"...keeping in mind that:
  1. the regular season hasn't played out in order to say that we are a "good" team that Cousins has to worry about.
  2. There are MANY people who order the great accomplishments of civilization as fire...sliced bread...and Ryan Tannehill as Phins QB. He's never won anything, so should Vikings fans be as hopeful as some of us about their chances?
