The Miami Dolphins are taking a cautious approach with cornerback Xavien Howard’s return from the injury that reportedly required a procedure to trim the meniscus in his left knee.

Howard, who reportedly had his knee scoped early last week to address some soreness and swelling, missed last Sunday’s 34-33 win over the New England Patriots, and it is doubtful that he’ll play this Sunday’s road game against the Minnesota Vikings (6-6-1), who possess one of the best receiver duos in the NFL in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

However, Dolphins coach Adam Gase is encouraged by the fact that Howard is already running.

We may be without X and TJ on Sunday. That really leaves us thin. Walt Aikens back in the lineup or Mctyer/Armstron/Davis....oof

He was supposedly absent from todays practice with an ankle injury but was later spotted....which is a good sign. He arrived late but then practiced.

Thanks, so it doesn’t appear to be injury related. That’s good.

I hate to say it, but if we need to sit him out to be 100% for Jags then I say we sit him. One of the worst things would be if we played him at 75% and he aggravates the injury and stays at 75% or goes down the rest of the year. We need to make the strongest push against AFC opponents and if there is a game to lose it is this one. Though, I am encouraged by the fact that our offense really showed up against the Pats so let us hope we can do that again this week no matter what.

I think on Wake, who had similar procedure done, he came back a little too soon, he started playing better after several weeks from the surgery.

The problem is time is running out, just his pressence may have teams looking to the other side though-

I do think he misses this game- at least.

Yeah, we have a chance to make the playoffs even if we lose at Minnesota but the Jacksonville and Buffalo games are must-win.

I think Howard should be active, but don't play unless absolutely necessary like they start torching us for long yards. If We handle them well, Howard can sit out.

man this is a bad stretch of games to not have our best defensive player. brady and the pats and now diggs and thielen

Assuming he's healthy enough I think that's the best plan. Though I have a feeling it will become absolutely necessary quickly. Jacksonville next week on the other hand doesn't really have a lot of danger in their passing game.
