Dolphins Rb Frank Gore Not Expected To Return This Season

Great to have him here for Ballage and the guys to see what a true professional is at that position. He will cast a shadow on the young guys long after he hangs it up, but I sure hope he has another season or two in the tank. He looked fresh and ready to tote the rock for a while yet. Injury did not look to be career threatening, especially for a guy with no real history of injuries (as a pro).

Gore will be back. I feared it was a knee. Once it was reported as ankle I was confident he'd play for the Dolphins again, whether this year or next season.

Too bad we didn't sign Gus Edwards. He always seemed undervalued by the Canes before transferring to Rutgers.

Edwards is a power back who has been very impressive for the Ravens recently. Could have been a nice replacement for Gore.

I would say Gus Edwards was the most heavily debated Canes player in recent years in terms of split opinion. Some posters on Canes sites loved him while others wanted to get rid of him. Big slow starting type who was always a reserve but often looked excellent in that role, notably at Virginia Tech in 2014. Mike Gottfried raved about Edwards that year. But then Edwards got hurt early the following year, missed the entire season, and it prompted his transfer to Rutgers.

Edwards definitely has shortened his stride and runs more compact now than when with the Canes.

Agree the Canes messed up on Edwards. Gus the bus should have been incorporated into the RB committee much more. Could have used him last year on short yardage situations

Good to see him blossom as a pro

Fans devalue the importance of those power runs up the middle. It happened with Ajayi and now with Gore.

When all you have is scatback finesse, the defense loses fear and salivates to attack
I agree - just would have liked to see a bit more balance w Drake / hoemrun threat.

I think the balance was fine but we needed to be more aggressive when we used Drake. More than one or two wheel routes, etc.

Shift Drake into the slot even if Gore is in the game also.

Stuff like that. After all, if Drake is the guy you want with the ball in his hands on the lateral play then he needs to be schemed into space multiple times per game.

Hopefully it is an ankle and not a foot like the dreaded lisfranc.

I would LOVE to see Gore in Miami for atleast 1 more year. He played this year on a 1yr/1m deal and we sure as hell got the value out of that. Just having him one more year, even at half of the snaps he had this year but being able to mentor Ballage and Drake, would be amazing.

Mister Gore is indeed a PROS PRO!

No wonder Ronnie Brown had such respect for him!

All the best to you Frank!

You'd be better off movin' on than risking your body/health any further.

Frank Gore (foot) officially lands on I.R.
