Why Bring Gase Back? I Don't Get It.

I totally agree that consistency is the cornerstone for long term success in any organization. Consistency, in and of itself doesn't guarantee success though.

Believe me, the thought of starting over gives me that Philbin queasy feeling. I hate it, but I honestly don't think Gase is up to the task.

Not only is he clueless about the defensive side of the ball, what's worse is he is disinterested in it.

His play calling is baffling at times to say the least. I used to think he would learn as he went, but now I'm not even confident in that.

To your point about who could we get that would be better? There are no guarantees with anyone, but I really don't see Gase as getting the job done.

Yes, exactly. The reason great franchises don't turn over coaches is because they are GREAT! Keeping a coach just to have consistency turns you into the Titans under Jeff Fisher. In fact, that's what we are going for. Not bad but not great, just good. Always in the hunt for a playoff spot but not for a championship. The enemy of great is good.

The question isn't whether or not anyone wants him back. The question is - who do you replace him with?

There have been at least 3 threads that I know of that have asked the "who" question, not not one of them has produced an semblance of a reasonable answer.

And releasing Gase for the hope of getting Harbaugh is foolishly risky.
In fairness, I don't think 99.999% of people posting here have that type of intimate inside knowledge to be able to answer that question.

That doesn't mean we should continue with what IMO is not working. I just see too many dumb play calls, too many games where we are unprepared, and no light at the end of the tunnel.

What I absolutely do not want, is two years from now being exactly where we are now.

Because right now we’re a second rate organization and there’s no way we pull another Adam Gase, who was one of the top head coaching prospects when we hired him. If you’re OK with hiring this season’s Joe Philbin or Tony Sparano and being right back here again in 3-4 seasons, by all means fire Gase.

I understand, and feel your trepidation, but if that's the reason for keeping him, then we are worse off than I thought.

That seems to be the over riding reason though. That, and oh yeah the "well we are .500 with a lot of bad luck.

Not one single post defending his coaching, decision making, game planning, in game adjustments, situational play calling?

Defending what? What does he do exceptionally well? At least Philbin kept the facility clean.

Well.... It looks like you joined this forum this year... if that is so you may be a fairly new fan of the Dolphins.... if that is so …. we have been "not wanting" us to be where we are two years from now for YEARS...…. good luck

Been a fan since the early 80's. I grew up a Lions fan, so I know disappointment all too well, and I'm tired of it.

I would love to see Harbaugh. Im not against another year for Gase.

And then im curious about Dan Cambell, who went off to Dallas to become assistant head coach, presumably to gain experience for a HC gig. I think one day he will make a good head coach. Not a coordinator, but a head coach. Likely not time yet, but still will keep watching his career.

I’ve made this argument multiple times over the past several weeks. This is a bottom of league roster that he has at 7-7 and competing for a playoff spot. Gase teams overperform. And that’s true of everywhere he’s been, where he coaxed an MVP season out of Peyton Manning in Denver and made Cutler look competent in both Chicago and here.

Fans are emotional and want change for the sake of change, but Incan guarantee those in the know around the NFL know exactly how well he is doing with the bare bones roster he gets annually.

owner is not going to pay out 2 years to guru gase, thats the bottom line.
he will be back along with all the glorified high school assistant coaches.
