Schefter: The Situation In Miami Is Extremely Volatile

I never understood this fascination with wanting Rizzi to take over. If they’re going to get rid of Gase they need to get rid of everyone, hell Rizzi was held over from the Philbin regime.
No fascination here ...just a warm body familiar with the team fir a year
Better than keeping Gase another year

Don't waste another season. It's not fair to the fans. We've suffered long enough. At best this regime/coaching staff can become 'average' -- no potential for greatness. No thanks. Hit the reset button. I'm okay with whatever the results are in 2019 as long as we're making the effort to rebuild.

Rizzi is one of the best ST coaches in the NFL. Its the only phase if the team that is executing. It’s why he’s been held over.

Ross has had 10 years experience as an NFL owner. I'm thinking he doesn't need as much help as he did when he arrived. He may be ready to make big decisions w/o the assistance of shaky subordinates.

We would like to think that but I'm not sure.

Rizzi has actually been retained by 2 regimes as he came to Miami as assistant ST coach under Sparano.

As for this? My original understanding was that Tannenbaum would get the ax, then the new guy would make the decision on Gase and Grier, whether all at once or over a season like Chris Ballard and John Dorsey have done for the Colts and Browns. But between Ross's disappointment in the product on the field and Gase's erm... less than impressive way of handling things that could change

Maybe gase does want out. Maybe he realized he doesn’t like being a head coach. He did say last year when asking about giving up play calling he wouldn’t because it is the only thing he likes.

No way egomaniacal, control freak Gase agrees to giving up control over personnel, playcalling and firing his coaches. He will take a stand on principle and get fired. That way Ross can Cya and say he was offered the opportunity to stay but was insubordinate. Bet you.

Half measures solve nothing. This is Gase's roster, his culture, his QB, his DC, his problem. His excuses have gotten old. Getting rid of just Tannenbaum solves nothing. Anyone that says bring in a proven vet DC, who in their right mind would come here to coach with this lame duck? That said I think when we erupt for 10 points today it will solve that problem.

What we currently have isnt working at all.
Any type of change would be welcome at this point.

Under both Philbin and Gase, Miami has had 7 straight years of a short pass based offense and a defense "built to play with a lead"... and the results have been pathetic. I agree that any change would be an improvement, UNLESS Ross hires someone else who wants to run a similar offense and defense AGAIN!!!

Because Rizzi has the special teams ready to go every week. I think people are curious because they see former ST coach Harbaugh doing well in Baltimore

Would Ross do another Sparano with John Harbaugh? Only fire Gase if he could get the apple of his eye? **** me

My own take, I think Ross is too much of a "threat" guy. He wants people to fear him so he doesn't have to make difficult decisions.

There are certain things being reported that seem more definite than others. And that worries me. If you assess "fact" in the media as volume of reports or credible source, I think the following is "fact":

"Facts"
Tannehill is done in Miami. I've not heard a single report discrediting this notion.

Tannenbaum is done in Miami. Again, this is clearly reiterated without much counter.

"Still being decided" - Dependent on successor availability
Gase's job is in "jeopardy". He said he doesn't have to lobby for his job. We've also heard distant rumblings with Harbaugh names in the mix. I honestly think Gase can save his job today based on performance. But I also think this is more directly tied to Ross' confidence he has a successor in play.

Burke has been a non-news story. I think Burke's fate is in Gase's hands.

Grier has been mentioned a few times, but not solely tied to TB's fate. I also think Grier's fate is in Gase's hands.

I think Ross' real decision is whether he wants to keep Gase. His indecision alone tells me he does not have a successor cemented. I think Ross is the "team who has inquired about John Harbaugh". It has already denounced by Ross/Michigan that Jim is staying. But I think John is the option in play.

My opinion;

If John Harbaugh is available and a wink deal is in place, we will have an entire house cleaning.
If not, RT gone, TB gone, Grier stays and Gase stays. I wouldn't be surprise if we have a new "real" OC that Gase surrenders the "majority" of play calling, Burke is gone and maybe another assistant is sacrificed. Gase will have to make changes on his own staff to show response to this season's results. (change for change's sake)

Really? Because I've just seen speculation thrown around, so unless you've spoken to him yourself, you have no idea what his thought process is on this current situation.
True, to an extent, but if history is any indication, he has no clear, coherent plan.
