Dolphins, Under New Evp Chris Grier, Introduce Future Plans

Having our Scouting leader heading into the off-season is important for continuity. We must build the trenches. It all starts there.

If Tannehill restructures/paycut and we bring in real competition it could work for this year. In 2020, we mortgage the draft for the franchise QB with the trenches in place.

The more I read about Kris Richard the more I like him as the HC. He could turn that secondary into something special especially with X and Fitz back there.

He doesn’t have enough experience. I think that we just had a coach like that. He reminds me of VJ. A glorified position coach.

I hear you. Give him a shot. But for a franchise that has produced next to zero all pro talent in 20 years, and a guy that has had a hand in the scouting and general management of personnel for all 20 years, I say let’s go a different course.

But heck, a lot of people around the league say he’s a good guy. It sold Ross. I guess it should sell me.
I completely understand where you're coming from. It's been abysmal for 20 years in Miami, but Grier didn't have a whole lot of say until 2016. Things have looked better in the draft since then, so I'm willing to give him a shot (possibly against my better judgement).

btw, out of those 5 for HC, Munchak imo is the one that could probably put the best staff together and he's the only one that's been a HC before, two things we've been wanting for a long time.

Part of putting together a staff is having the right temerment or personality. For ex. Gase/ Burke. You ask 100 people/ experts or fans: 95 will tell you Burke should’ve been fired.
Gase however be it stubbornness or ego - refused to see it.
Truth is Burke should never been the hire.
On the OFF side - did he even try try anyone?
Loggains was DEAD LAST as playcaller in a Chicago. Gase didn’t care- he brought him in. Why?? Because he was familiar with him.
Not because he was talented.

You need to be a strong individual to be comfortable to surround yourself with men smarter than you.
Gase was WEAK

Gase always thought he was the smartest guy in the room. This is why I like Munchak. He's a good guy and won't be afraid to bring in good people with him.

I don't think any worthwhile hc is gonna wanna be a part of this. Plenty of other options. 10+ more years of pain

Then how do you explain Matt Nagy, Doug Pederson, and Sean McVay all having success with no head coaching experience before they got hired? Every head coach has to start somewhere.

I think you're too pessimistic
If I'm a coach and the Dolphins, Browns, Packers, and Jets are calling, this job would be my last option. It's slim pickings out there for us guys with other options being way more attractive.

I laugh at people other than Chris Grier who think their opinion matters.
