Tannehill's Trade Value

Yes, the offense was bad but to use it as an excuse for an equally bad defense is laughable and just pushing an agenda.

The defense is 29th in yards allowed per drive and 27th in time-of-possession per drive. Offense couldn’t stay on the field but defense couldn’t get off either.

So Ryan Tannehill leads the league in 3 and outs and you don't draw any correlation to that forcing the defense to stay on the field?

Here's a tip: look at the +/- last year when Cutler was the qb and look at the defensive rankings. Hard correlation to deny.

The whole teams is atrocious.

I actually think he’ll have suitors. There is good film of him out there. He’s coming off an ACL year, is probably playing on a sprained ankle and has a mystery shoulder injury to boot. Who knows how much it’s affecting his play. No GM will be as short sighted as to just look at those last 3 games but the overall body of work is not great.

I am not sure we just throw the baby out with the bathwater, yet. Tanny will make 27 million dollars next year which $13,423,334 is dead money. If we cut him, we save $13 million and some change. Let's ask ourselves, who out there is better? I have a crazy idea, lets restructure his contract out for three years for $12 million or so a year. He knows the system. At the same time, bring some competition in 2019 and let him earn or lose his job. We will be rebuilding this team for 3 or more years. This is not the year to draft high for a QB but lets still find one of value in rounds 2-6 to develop and then next year after we go 2-14, we will have the pick of the litter. Lets face it, 2019 is going to be bad but we need to bottom out to get better.

Tyrod Taylor was on a 16 million salary and got traded for a 3rd rounder. His play was just as flawed, if not worse, by the end of his Buffalo tenure.

So yes, Tannehill has trade value. I'd expect a similar compensation, and anything less than a 4th would be a failure IMO.

I predicted that he’d be a backup on another team this offseason...you’re not getting a high draft pick for him. Maybe a conditional pick or 6-7th rounder. Tannehill has never won anything, take off the team/orange glasses and see him for what he is. An average QB that should’ve been competing for his job 3 years ago.

He'll definitely be starting. A team like Jacksonville, Denver, Washington or Tennessee are the first four I would seek out. They might be willing to pay the most since they have playoff aspirations and just need a QB too put them over the hump. After that just go through the teams that need to replace a failed vet......Tampa, Oakland, Cincinnatti, Carolina ... And finally, if you're right and only backup roles available go after teams with QBs about to retire.....Giants, Patriots, Chargers, Packers, New Orleans although because of contracts you could only trade if one of those QBs actually called it quits.

Tannehill is actually a failed vet QB. If a team has playoff aspirations, why go to Tannehill? Dude has never sniffed a playoff game outside of carrying Matt Moore’s shoulder pads.

If Chad Henne can stay in the league then Tanne will also but even if he gets a starting gig like Henne it will be a very short lived experiment.

A quarterbacks value to another team is in direct correlation to what that team currently has at quarterback. Tannehill would be an upgrade for several teams. So of course they could trade him and get some value.

Because GMs don't evaluate players the way you do. They will see a QB who can be successful as long as he gets protection. They will look at his 2016 film and discount the 2018 due to injury and poor offensive line. All it takes is one GM saying if he gets protection he's not bad and We'll have a trade

Not gonna happen. I've said it multiple times. The league valued Tyrod Taylor more through their actions 2 pro Bowl invites, top 100 listing. And tannehill? Not even an alternate invite for a guy who has been in the league for almost a decade.

So the league doesn't really think much of tannehill, he probably falls into the Josh mccown territory and there will be better free agent options or better potential trade options this off season and guys like Bridgewater, Foles, and Flacco will probably get called first before tannehill. And Hell, no team is going to be thrilled about giving up compensation and that contract when they could just sign Bridgewater without any compensation.

Remember when we all thought we could possibly get a 1st round pick for Landry or at the very least a 2nd round pick? This is a similar situation but Landry was more respected around the league than Tannehill.

If a team is smart and they will know we are moving on from tannehill then most teams will probably just wait until we cut him or maybe offer a useful 5th or 6th round pick. Teams are greedy with draft picks.

That's really going to be the interesting part. Will they wait for the cut or will they not want to risk that. You could be right. They could just wait for him to be cut

Only way to know is to try and trade him. NY, Jax and maybe Den are going to be in the QB market. I think the best shot of trading him is Jax.

If a team has all those other things in place, then they won’t need Tanny. Get a better FA QB with playoff experience and you’re off. What team could he realistically start for? Maybe Tampa? He is probably just as good as Bortles, although Bortles seems to be the better runner and has played in bigger games.
