Offseason Plan?

Raiders did not tank. Raiders had one of the toughest schedules at 0.550. They just were not good.
They did take an opportunity to acquire first round picks. I would not consider that tanking. If someone offered us a first round pick for a DE looking to break the bank, for example Landry, or Xavien, we'd probably take it. That's not tanking.

If trading away your most talented young players to build something you want from the ground up at the expense of finishing with a better record with said talent....it's tanking lol. Gruden what a to build his way and stick picks to do so, he also doesn't want to waste cap on players that will not make them better than average in the short term, that's tanking. Give me money and picks, high picks at that since we won't finish this season w many wins cause I just sent out talent packing aka tanking lmao.

Call it whatever you want but there are no abs worth a damn this coming draft but 2 that look very legit in 2020. The smart play (tank) would be to build on the non exciting picks this year and build some depth where possible and have very low expectations for 2019 as we evaluate the young unproven talent we have and she's the bad money contracts and older players... put ourselves in position to select a franchise qb of the future in 2020, the guy the new coach and Grier will be tied to. End of story. Dont like the tank word IDC I think is what it is. And it would be the smartest decision we made in decades. Or we can continue the never ending mediocrity that's been so fun to watch....

There's a difference between trading away anyone that you think will be too expensive to keep by the time you become expensive and intentionally telling your players to go out there and try to lose games. The latter is tanking. The former is called a "long game"

Gruden looked stupid. Making the Bears D so much better with Mack. Giving Dallas someone who can catch the ball, etc. But the problem is that he isn't. He saw a roster that simply could not go. So he traded what was going to be expensive talent into (hopefully) future talent where he wants it. Most likely at least 2 of those picks on the line. Like BahamaFinFan78 said "long game". It helps though that they will not be home, home till 21. But they will be in a better place out of the gate, most likely. The Dolphins have that chance with less picks...go build the lines and audition young talent. Falk or Fales. Go out there to win and compete, but know that you are out gunned. I know in baseball, I would rather see some of the young talent brought up late...than watch the same players that have sucked all year. Even if the young players suck and the team keeps sucking. It is hope and exciting to see young talent compete. Also good to see what they got, rather than wonder. Gore is amazing. But I want to see Drake and Ballage run next year. Tanny is not terrible and can ball in spots. But I want to see if Fales or Falk can play. I mean you know what you are getting from the players that are in there now. .500 or less ball. You also know what you will get if you throw more money at free agents with this core, .500 or less ball. The Dolphins finished 31st in total offense! They have talent in the WR corps and backfield. Unacceptable! They finished 29th in total defense. With good young pieces at LB and in the defensive backfield, that is also unacceptable. Keep those good players and build those lines. Then draft a QB that can hopefully stay healthy, bring excitement, and win games! Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR
