Dan Campbell - Not Even On Interview List?

I honestly think Rizzi was running the team during that interim.

I don’t think miami gave him the interim position outright because he excelled at the STC position and they feared him leaving after the year if they chose not to give him the HC spot. The plan was obviously never to hire within for the next HC position and they chose someone capable, but dispensable.

I remember Rizzi in Campbell’s ear all game long essentially coaching HIM.

This also might be complete nonsense, but otherwise it makes zero sense why he wasn’t chosen over Campbell, and is NOW getting a head coach interview.

Now that you tallk about it, wasnt that actually a discussion point at the time?

Anyhow, I think the reality is, if you're thinking about Dan Campbell, you might as well just go with Rizzi. They're basically the same guy when it comes to HC potential, hard nose guy who would need to hit HRs at both coordinator positions to make some noise.

The Buckeyes team was "filled with murder's and criminals"?

Not only are you very misinformed; you don't spell very well either.

So we're just going to pretend like he wasn't the coach at Florida? A quick google search will tell you all about his criminal players at Florida and his wife beating assistant at Ohio State. Last time I checked beating you wife is a crime.

Here you go let me help you.

Sorry professor I hope you grade on a curve.

That is surprising to me, although we likely don't know everything going on with Miami's search.

I love the kind of team Campbell would build. Like Sparano teams would remember when they played the Miami Dolphins. However, also like Sparano I'm not sure how much of a tactical or intellectual advantage he gives us. Maybe he could assemble a strong staff.
Maybe he's learned a thing or two working with Sean Payton.

Rizzi may be a wizard with FG kickers and a very solid ST coach (though he got embarrassed

by the Pats at home this year) but he's got the mark of a classic Peter Principal dude IMO.

Beyond that his 18-23 HC record in college is anything but impressive.

He then was out of football from 2008-10 until becoming ST coach in Miami.

Yea, he seems well organized and a good communicator -- but legit NFL HC material?

Maybe just me, but I think that's a really big reach.

Speaking of that -- why isn't someone like Pete Carmichael Jr. on our interview list?

I still want to see Dan Campbell get an interview (if he'd take it).

If Rizzi is passed over for the head coaching job I suspect he'll resign and go elsewhere.

Very possible. I've thought about that risk. Normally the coach would depart under that scenario, after already being here for three regimes.

But it could depend on how entrenched Rizzi has become in the Miami area. I have no idea about that.
