Brian Flores Emerging As Top Candidate For Dolphins Head Coach Position

So I can’t read the mando article. Is he saying that miamis looking for a sacrificial lamb head coach?

What ex-Patriots coach has been successful outside of daddy Belichick’s watch?

That's not an answer. We're trying to rationalize and say X,Y,Z determines a coaches success and that's baloney.

There's been new hire coaches from a diverse set of backgrounds with varying experiences and none of it has been a solid predictor of HC success.

If anything, It signals that the assistant coaches and coordinators are just as important as who your HC is.

He says that the Miami Dolphins are making potential head coaches very aware of the fact that the team's intention is to have a vet purge / cap hit year while rebuilding with young guys. Apparently, when Ross said he is ok with having a 3-13 season, that wasn't just talk. They are anticipating losing a lot of games this season.

In the article, Salguero also suggests that the team actually wanted to keep Gase, but he wasn't on board with the losing idea.

While the team isn't necessarily advertising it as a 'we want a lamb' type of search, if they are truly telling coaches that the plan for 2019 is to develop young players and clear bad contracts, then I think a lot of coaches will look at that situation and ask themselves "Even with assurances, will I survive 3-13?"

Well I can see why gase wouldn’t be interested in that. He’s got too much ego to mail in a season.

But also if Grier is basically leading this coach search thing and it’s down to “his guys” you’d think that unless Ross and Grier have an understanding here of patience over winning which kinda counters why Ross said results the last few years have been unacceptable Grier would want to get results the sooner the better in terms of his own job security.

Cause he can hire his own head coach here but bottom line is his head is the one that’s front and center now.

So Grier better hope as much as any coach candidate that Ross word if it is embracing losing in the short term holds up.

Best thing I can tell Grier don’t miss on your draft qb when you make it and dont wait too long to pull that trigger.

I can't believe this team is actually preparing for a full on rebuild that includes a tank job for a franchise QB.

2019 is going to be the best awful season I've ever had to endure, if that makes sense.

Already started, but I'm going to be paying extra attention to Bama, Georgia, and Oregon next season.

If true, this is gonna rub the NFL the wrong way.

I can see it now, they will dock us our first round draft pick.

Fins need to be careful how they actually articulate that kind of stuff... Would be so Fins to lose draft picks because news comes out a team official actually said: "we want to lose games on purpose for a better draft pick"...

Why would anyone believe reporters talking about "tanking"? If anything, they tell the candidates that this isn't gonna be a quick fix, and they could take a step back or something like that. As inept as Ross is, I highly doubt he is telling Grier to say "we are gonna lose next year, so if you don't get the job, don't tell anyone." WTF is wrong with people?

How do you know that? Did you know McVay? Peterson, etc etc etc coach would be successful? The truth is no one ever really knows this stuff with any certainty. It's all a luck of the draw!
I believe he is referring to that old Indian curse we stirred up back in the 90s when the new stadium was built. Not that I believe in such craziness, but if I was an incoming head coach I think I would invest $500 in a good parking lot "spiritual cleansing" and asked the owner to put up a brass plack praising the Indians in their heritage to southern Florida. But that's just me

It’s not really purposely tanking if we start Fales or Falk. It would be similar to what the Colts pulled to get Luck. Now Gruden, that was a tank job lol.
