How the Jets fair under Gase will be interesting. I wasn't as angry about his play calling as others (although some 3rd and short calls were horrible until he figured out to get Tannehill off the field and put in Ballage running the Wildcat) because I heard the same complaints about every OC for Tannehill. Then when backup QBs come in they start chucking the ball further down the field under the same OC.

When Lazor was getting lambasted for supposedly not calling plays for Tannehill to throw down the field his response was that in nearly every play there are deep passes and it is up to Tannehill to take those shots.

My complaints with Gase is 1) he was clueless that Tannehill could be anything more than a bottom level starter and 2) his inability to coach talented players choosing to get rid of the them for little if anything in return.

As long as he doesn't have final say in personnel the Jets might do a lot better under his guidance. Or they might not and he turns out to just be a crappy HC.

I think he’s going to suck. He has little in the way of qualifications and never should have been a HC in the first place. I love that they have him. They are more inept an org than we are.

He did do flowcharts in high school.

Holy Cow Gase Haters get owned by the Jets.
He blows and he’s going to flame out in 3 seasons w them too. Book it. Also, their rookie QB isn’t going to be top shelf either.

Honestly don’t want anything to do with McCarthy. Think he went full steam with hopes of joining the Jets and that fell through. Didn’t want to go anywhere else.

I think Gase might bring the Jets to the playoffs next year, but things will sour there by Year 3 just as it did here. He has too high opinion of his “genius” which makes him resistant to change. When things start to go badly in NY it will get ugly fast for the socially awkward Gase.

Apparently, Matt Rhule was conditionally offered the Jets job, but they didn't like his staff choices and he wouldn't acquiesce to their requests for some changes.

Why aren't we interviewing Matt Rhule? Why not at least ask him and get denied? Guy is a pretty good coach from what I've seen.

Even if Gase wins in NY, it's not a screw up by the Dolphins. It's clear he pissed off a lot of the locker room and that the franchise needed another direction. If we allowed him to pick his own QB this year, we would have probably reached for a QB in a mediocre QB class out of desperation and then wasted 2-3 years to wait and see if he was the right coach because he needed time to groom the QB.

If he succeeds, it was best for both parties going forward. We needed a new regime to rebuild the roster and pick the new QB. We weren't going anywhere with Gase.

My guess is Gase does pretty well next year, but then it starts to fizzle out in years 2 and 3.

MIA-NY Jets games next year are going to be very interesting.

This is exactly how I see it playing out. Early success, then total implosion.
